Mum up and about - allowed to shower and take herself to the loo etc with a wheeled walker; also off the ventilator, trachea thingy out, and best of all able to SPEAK intelligibly (if briefly) via the hole-in-throat-button. All indications - if I know my Mum - that she is annoyed shitless being stuck in hospital and wants to gtfo asap. This is a good thing :) Dad holding up okay, according to him; not so much according to other sources, but little sis is staying with him at the moment so that's a relief. Is possible the extension-to-three-weeks in ICU is off the table; from what Dad says they're talking about moving to a normal ward today for an extended rest/recovery.
So: it's all good! Wonderful to hear. Also: work reduction etc is doable, boss supportive, don't need to resign or nuffin', so while things are going to get v. frustrating and complex when I get back, at least I still get to teach my little terrors :) The possible alternatives have been freaking me out a bit, I'll admit...
Otherwise - in Maleny, just in time for a week of rain! so much for the Sunshine Coast eh. Today's new experiences are: finding out (a) whether a pressure cooker is an effective subsitute for an autoclave (we're testing acupuncturist's sister-in-law's new toy) and (b) how dentistry works in the land of herbs and hypnotism. First hand, might I add; another piece of tooth fell out in Porcupine Gorge and things have been a tad untenable for just that little too long. Wish me luck...
