Leisurely to do, done

Or not. Failed again at getting up early to bushwalk Namadgi. Slow start, then midday (ish) hack into Tallaganda again - totally off-path this time, which was fantastic; great deal of wet forest and beautiful granite - lots more boulders the size of our living room :) Bushbashed our way from outside the main park through private land (oops) to Bald Hill Trail, then followed a sand path which eventually turned into what we can only figure is a Totally Illegal Trail Bike Circuit (!); followed that for a few km then worked our way back to the main track by following gullies and creeks and well, guessing really. (Hubby calls it using the GPS; given the downright clunkiness/unreliability of the new Garmin, I call it luck :)

Lovely country we hadn't been through before - winding and undulating, so many different microclimates :) A relatively good fungi show; not as many oddities or even types as last week but that's all to the good. We spent a lot of time last Sunday rolling about to get photos - came home covered in Eau de Po de Wombat :(

Conquered New Recipe #20 - not doing too well at this meme, am I? Theoretically Balti Lamb in Yoghurt and Garam Masala Sauce; turned out to be Chicken in yada, with dates instead of apricots. But very nice all the same.

Told BF's hubby to book us in for next weekend - SNOW HERE WE COME. Hopefully.

Balti Lamb in Yoghurt and Garam Masala Sauce

1 tbs tomato puree
3/4 cup yoghurt
1 tsp garam masala (we used double)
1/4 tsp cumin seed
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pulped garlic
1 tsp pulped ginger
1 tsp chili powder (we used dried chili, double)
225g lamb, cut into strips
2 medium onions, finely sliced

2 tbsp "low fat spread" (WTeffingF *is* that? I used normal marge, seemed to work)
2 green cardamom pod
1 cinnamon stick
5 dried apricots, sliced
fresh coriander to garnish

Blend tomato and yoghurt, garam masala, chili, cumin, salt, garlic, ginger.
Mix lamb in and marinate in fridge 1 hour.
Heat 2 tsp oil in heavy-based pan, fry sliced onions until gold and crispy.
Let onions cool, then pound in mortar.
Return onions to pan, add lamb & sauce, stir-fry 2 mins. Cover with lid, simmer over low heat 15 mins/until cooked. Add a little water if necessary.
Heat "low fat spread" with 1 tsp oil, cinnamon, cardamom, apricots - stir over low heat for about 2 mins.
Pour over lamb, serve with coriander.

What else... built the Lego shop - it's gorgeous! very Dutch. Will have to dismantle all the other kits and see if I can make a companion house to go with it; it needs a friend. Now downloading the Factory Designer, because goldarnit I don't have nearly enough things to waste my time on already.
