No, seriously. If I've learned anything from working at Castaway Bay, it's that I'm smarter than 90% of the population, guests AND employees.
And the thing is that these people don't seem to care. They never seem as humiliated as I'd be if I were to call down saying my TV/lamp/hairdryer/coffe maker were broken, only to have the maintenance person come up and fix it... by plugging it into the wall.
And the employees are no better. I'm so tired of getting calls about "broken" bedframes. Now, when a bedframe is broken, I have to hunt down spare parts, grab all the apropriate tools, and lug them down to the room. What I find 90% of the time, though, is that the easily-disassembled frame just pulled apart. Now, I can understand if someone's never put a bedframe together and doesn't know how it works. But if you look at it... The side rails have two pegholes, wide at the top, each with a skinnier slot connecting under it. The crossbeams have two pegs at each end, dime-sized at the end, connecting to the rail with a peg about half that size. If you just LOOK at it, it takes you fifteen seconds to figure out that you put the pegs in the wide part of the rail holes, then slip them down to lock them in.
Like I said, I can understand if you've never done it before, but when these housekeepers PULL THE BOXSPRING OFF, they have to LOOK at it. So they can SEE what's wrong. They can SEE that it's easily put back together. Even if they weren't too lazy to do it themselves, a smart person would be able to see it's not broken and save me lugging half of my tools across the hotel.
So I'm smarter than most of the population. I'm just glad that my friend list is in the 10% that isn't stupid. :)
