Adapting in Marin - They don't seem to like power risers.

Been meaning to do something. Kinda of braindump of all my experiences as I attempt to adjust to a life in the Marin. With any luck, (time and work permitting) I kinda wanted to make this a semi-regular update but well see what happens.

So a few weekends go there was actually a break in the rain long enough for the bike paths to dry off. Being that this was my first chance to get out all week, I took the opportunity to go out add get some exercise. Now ever since I moved to Marin, I've always wanted to take my Powerisers out and see how people would react to them. In San Francisco, the reaction was always pretty positive. People would always stop and ask what they were and everyone seemed pretty enthralled by them. Reminds me of the time my old roommate and I strapped on our Powerisers and bounded up to Haight Street for a few beers. We knelt down, squeezed our 9 ft frames through the door way of a local bar and immediately everyone turned to us. We stryded over to the bar, assumed our positions up front and proceeded down a few while talking to people. The bar keep was perfectly fine with us coming in like that which was cool. After a few, we stood up, slightly buzzed and proceed to bound down Haight in a full 20 miles per hour. If wasn't for the stinking hippies and the smell of urine, I'd love Haight street. So anyway, I wanted to see how people would react to the Poweriser in Marin.
After a quick warm up, I started down the bike path at full stride. People were staring but I was used to that. After a few hundred yards, I stopped to catch my breath and started to hopping around. That's when I got the first comment. A couple was walking up the path while I was hopping around and as they came close the wife ask with a slightly snide tone, "And what are those for". Not quite the tone I expected. A simple answer of "Exactly this" was all I said as I bounced around and that was the end of that conversation. She walked off was a mildly unpleasant look on her face which was not quite the reaction I was expecting. Infact no one really seemed entirely excited by the idea of my spring stilts. One lady even asked if they were for skiing which really didn't make much sense at all. Either way, it wasn't long before my old beat up powerisers broke on me. One of the foot pads ripped which is a really pain in the butt to repair. It was interesting to see how the people tended to react though. We'll see if I get the same results after I get the pads repaired.
