Today I am grateful for being close to the water.
I have such a serious affinity for water, it's not funny. I have always been fascinated by water. Living on Puget Sound really helps with the need to be near water. And then I get days like today, when I spend like 2 hours sitting on a public dock in downtown Bremerton, right there on the water. It was so damned peaceful and just made me feel really zen and calm. I crocheted for a while, and I worked on the stuff for my tarot project with
geekgrrllurking for a while, too. I got to talk to
shatterpath, which is always good, especially after the minor blowup I had before we left. *sighs*
While there, we saw a metric fuckton of cormorants. *squees* Lots of lovely dragon-ish energy there. Also the requisite gulls everywhere. The jellyfish were out en masse. I don't remember how many moon jellies we saw, and there were at least a dozen or so lion's mane jellies, too. In fact, one lion's mane jellyfish we saw was fucking ginormous! It was easily 2.5 feet across, whereas most of the ones we saw were around the size of dinner plates or a little bigger. There were 2 harbor seals that we saw, though it's entirely possible that it was the same seal twice. I'm not sure.
Tonight's haul was 1 flounder, 1 herring, 5 squid, and many crabs. I don't think
shatterpath and
amyrayh reached their combined limit on the red rock crabs, but we didn't keep proper track of how many were caught. We'll know tomorrow when we cook them up.
The very first pot that
amyrayh brought up had the following in it :: approx 4 crabs, a big starfish, a jellyfish, some seaweed, and a flounder! And not a small flounder either! LOL! It was crazy! We were all laughing our asses off over that catch.
In the end, I had a really good time tonight and got a serious recharge from the Sound, which I really needed. It was a great way to end my 13 & 13 anniversary day.
