Dear
femslash08 author who got me as a recipient...
First off, thank you for playing this year! I've participated in this ficathon since it started back in 2004, and have always enjoyed both sides of the coin in this. I look forward to receiving your story with the giddy anticipation of a child waiting for Christmas morning.
While I know you will write what comes to you, I just thought I'd mention a couple of things for you...
- Battlestar Galactica :: So I posted a LOT of pairings here, I admit that, an even dozen of them. In the end? As long as Laura Roslin or D'Anna/Three is involved, I'm really gonna be happy. Hell, even Kara would make me smile, particularly paired with one of those two. But the strong female characters on this show are what make up the bulk of my love for this show. Stories involving the whole situation on "What it means to be a Cylon" and the eerie connection Laura has to the Cylons? Yeah, those make me very happy.
- NCIS :: There's really only one couple on this show that I adore. I just haven't espoused any pairings including Kate or Jenny, unfortunately. But the one thing that really is a sticking point for me is dealing with the fact that Ziva's Jewish. This really tends to be overlooked in stories, and is something that I don't like being overlooked casually.
- Women's Murder Club :: I admit freely that this is a very fledgling fandom for me. But I'm willing to be swayed into this fandom by fabulous fic. And yes, I know, no pressure, right? *g* Seriously, I have this thing for good fic. I don't really care what fandom it is, if it's a good story. Period. This one is new to me, but I still want to have that same sense of loving the story wholeheartedly.
- CSI: Miami :: Calleigh and Natalia are perhaps my ultimate OTP that's on a TV show that's still on television. There is something about these two women that just gives me shivers up and down my spine. The playful banter, the intense looks, the way they work together, their horrible taste in men. It all works to create a really fascinating couple of strong women who are just sexy as hell together.
- The West Wing :: CJ and Ainsley are NOT a common pairing from this show. And I think that's why they're my absolute favorite, too. Plus? I have this thing for Emily Procter and her sexy, smart, strong Southern women characters. When Ainsley interacted with CJ, there was something there, this spark of connection that was picked up again in their all-too-brief meeting after Leo's funeral. I would love to see a fic from anywhere in their history, or beyond the end of the series.
- Poltergeist: the Legacy :: Okay, I know this one will be a serious long shot to get. Alex and Rachel are my ULTIMATE, no contest OTP period. Few people that I find watch the show, and most of them are het 'shippers. I'm pretty much the only person out there writing for this couple, with a couple of exceptions. But I always list this couple when I can, just to see if someone else is out there believes in the beauty of this couple.
Basic notes ::
- Nothing OOC. That really, really throws me out of a story faster than anything but bad grammar/spelling. Seriously.
- None of this "if they were in high school together"/written as kids stuff. I HATE it.
- Babies/children are a toss up. None of my couples [with the exception of Laura/Maya w/ Hera or Alex/Rachel w/ Kat] have children, nor are any of the characters necessarily of the "I must have babies to be complete" ilk. But at the same time, if it's done tastefully, I don't mind children/babies fic.
- Focus on the pairings I requested, please. These are the ones I really want to read. Outside of BSG, there's only one pairing per fandom. And in BSG, I'm good with ANY of those pairings. If I wasn't, I wouldn't have requested them.
- Big No-No Plots :: high school/college AUs ; non-con ; song!fic ; OOC ; easy answers
- Big Yes-Yes Plots :: the use of realistic magic/spiritual beliefs ; kink ; sex toys ; intelligent discourse ; personal growth
And yes, I know this probably looks like I'm really fucking picky. In some ways, I am. But at the same time, it's totally your choice to follow or not follow what's written here. I just thought this might be something to help you out with ideas for the story you'll be writing. Feel free to peruse my journal to get more info. I really don't hide much....
If you're someone that knows me, you probably already know this about me. And you probably already know what I like.
Once again, thank you in advance for the story you're going to be writing for me. I can't wait to read it!
