Long Weekend
I managed to get the whole weekend off because I worked last weekend and the girl I was covering for last Sunday worked my shift yesterday. I actually get a three day weekend, because I'm now getting Sun/Mon off and this is the first week of that schedule. Completely unplanned and I'm enjoying every minute of it.
Good News: I got a call from my mom this morning saying that they were on they're way home...finally. When I talked to my dad he sounded tired, but happy to be out of the hospital and on his way home. I'm excited to go and visit him later this week at their house
The weather can't seem to make up it's mind this weekend, but I'm still managing to get some things done outside. Yesterday, I had just finished mowing the lawn and putting things away, when they skies opened up and it started pouring. And hailing. And did I mention pouring? It was crazy how fast and heavy the rain was coming down. Of course I immediately ran outside and ran around in it. It felt great after mowing my huge lawn.
Today I pulled a hella lotta weeds along the fence and other gardens, raked up the huge grass clipping piles left behind by the mower (I really, really need to get a mower that has a bagger) and planting a lot of seeds (yes, I know I'm fairly late in doing this). As I was finishing this, the skies again got really dark and started to sprinkle, so I put away my things and headed inside. Now? It's bright and sunny out and not a drop of rain. Pfft!
I've decided to wait on planting my shade garden. I just had an estimate done for removing some dead trees, trees that are too close to the house and trimming the rest of the trees in my yard. Holy fuck is that going to be expensive. But, it needs to be done. I am going to get one more estimate and then get the work done ASAP. Several of the trees that are going to be taken down are where my new shade garden will be, so I thought it would be best to wait. I'm getting impatient, so I better get on that second estimate.
I missed a graduation party that I had planned on going to yesterday because of the rain. I was just going to get cleaned up from mowing when it started down pouring. It was supposed to be an outdoor/bonfire party so I assumed that even if it was still happening, her house was going to be over crowded with people. I think this week I'll see if she wants to get together for lunch instead.
Ha! Crazy weather, it just started down pouring again.
