Oh man August was really really rough for me.
I was having a lot of problems with the Korean kids. They were ignoring rules that my superiors and I gave. I know, kids are kids but some of the worst offenders were the teenagers. What the hell, guys! I can't be running after a group of teenage girls who want to flirt with their stupid chaperon when I have ELEMENTARY SCHOOLERS to supervise. I'm not saying that all of them were bad, just a select few really made things hard for me. I also found that the Koreans are shockingly immure for their age- at least from a Canadian perspective. Dare I say it-Hetalia was ...accurate. ie.) the grade six-ers fighting with invisible swords or the female high schoolers making jokes about how the chocolate cake residue resembles feces and "ewww it's poo!". Grow up. You are fifteen for pete's sake, Not five! The don't even know how to flush their own toilets because in Korea a lot of them are on some auto-flush system!
Ah, then there was the Lady Gaga concert! It was awesome. She has a pretty set of pipes that Gaga and she really liked to show them off with a lot of vocalization. There was fog machines and a piano in the hood of a car and leather dresses and then she burnt a piano and then Glinda the good fairy rose above the crowd and sang a pretty song then Cuthulu came out of nowhere and ripped her clothes off and then there was this Shamanic dance and Lady G. got her heart ripped out and then there were two male bondage slaves making out on front of a burning silver angel statue and there Lady Gaga walk out of some spinning hoola hoops and all was well. I can pretty much describe the concert in four words: Expensive gay rights rally. So it's safe to say that it was a lot of fun.
I was also roped into seeing Scott Pilgrim twice. The comic books are my favourite, so I was really concerned about the movie but it was actually very good and it kept close to the comics without dragging on for too long. Because the last volume hadn't been written yet I believe that Edgar Wright did the best he possibly could with what he had and I couldn't ask for anything more. Because O'Malley and Wright are bff I think Wright had a large effect on how O'Malley wrote the end of the last book , so thanks to Wright the ending of the comics was awesome. Also, it's really distracting when your friend tells you right before the movie starts that Macaulay Culkin's big bro happens to be playing your favourite character. Because Home Alone was my favourite movie when I was little I felt my childhood warp into some crazy mess when I saw him making out with another dude. That's really distracting.
But I'm happy with how well it was received by my age group. Instead of feeling threatened by the new influx of fans, I welcome it. It's great to see my beloved fandoms get more members. And hell, for something Canadian to actually be popular is pretty rare in itself.
lady gaga,
