Long time no see
This journal is about animals and dreams and that explains why I chose that one instead of my regular Benzozw4. The countdown is there, 15 months before Yves stops the job he has learned to loathe. At the same time, I will start a sabbatical year. We have some plans but life has taught us that nothing ever happens as foretold. So instead of plans maybe i should say we are sailing through a direction and try to reach some port.
Donkeys are still on the menu,here are a few concerns
1. My question is -and I'm dammed serious: is there a limit to what a donkey can stand in terms of mosquitoes? cuz we plan on building on the bugland; any biting flying insect you have seen or can imagine is there from end of April to the first freezes of october. They are the enemies you can see in Star Troopers if ever you had that much time to waste. Then in winter, there are either snow up to their mid-chest or hazardous ice. What are your thoughts Erica? I mean some days, the black car is attacked by hordes of deer flies as soon as I arrived. I asked in a donkey qc forum, waiting for answers but I don't get along with the administrator who he is a grumpy chauvinist French (the real stuff, French loaf included)
2. I hope to be teaching for eight more years (because I'm far more unsecure than him, he can live on a bag of rice for months, I'm not high-maintenance but I have never met someone who is that low-maintenance and the sons need our money). So, by now we think I should have a room or a small appartment close to my work place and not travel everyday back and forth home. therefore having donkeys would mean Yves can't visit me and he gets 80% of the chores, though this will be dealt with the concerned one.
3. If ever we choose to have asses :) soon, then it can't be rescued donkeys because Yves needs a more positive, easy-going approach to equides, he already feels nervous beside a horse, he won't be comfortable almost by himself with animals that have social issues. Abused donkeys usually (can't remember the word) close themselves in(?)or can overreact if you touch any scar made out of abuse.
I know I could have rescued later, when I will have gained experience.
