My conversation this morning:

I walk into class.

Fifth Grade Girl: Why you gotta wear those weird boots?
Me: Um... The first graders like them...

Later that day:

I'm wearing velvet, and first graders keep trying to pet me like a cat.

First Grade Girl: Do you have a boyfriend?
Me: No.
First Grade Girl: Why not?
Me: ...
First Grade Girl #2:

Welcome!

Right now I'm working as a resource aide at LAUSD (the LA school district.) Which means I work with a lot of special ed kids in small groups. So I see a lot of the little monsters, who are actually very adorable for the most part. I also write free-lance which is where the future lies, one hopes!

I saw at your user info that you're in New Zealand? Which probably puts you closest to Fiji of everyone who read Where the Magic Is. How'd I do?

Ummm...having never been to Fiji (shocking, I know) I'd say you did pretty well. A good friend of mine was in Fiji last year and judging from her pictures (and tales) you did good! Although the fic was set off the tourist-y side of the island anyway....

It's not shocking to me over here. Is it shocking if you're from NZ? Or are you joking? :) It's somewhere I've always wanted to go. (When I wrote the story, I was thinking Hawaii, and also using this amazingly detailed website.)

No, they are cute. Especially the little ones! Actually, as a more-or-less part time job, it's very fun. (Except I thought I'd never have to think about fractions and decimals again. Sigh.) :)
