So yeah...
Not many know this but, I had my last cigarette at about 11:45PM Sunday, 31 Dec 06. That means I am now on day number 9 of the "smoke free me." This is the longest I've gone since basic training, which of 6 weeks of no smoking. I don't remember withdral symptoms at all, either because I hadn't been smoking long enough for them to manifest when I stopped or because I was too busy/tired/stressed to notice they were there. This time however, they're kicking my ass a little bit.
The first couple of days I was just fine. I've gone a couple days without smoking before, just never because I tried to quit. Usually I just felt like crap (read ultra-hungover) and didn't do anything but lay in my bed and watch TV. About Thursday though, I started to feel a bit jittery. By Friday, I was all-out nic-fitting. It kind of tapered off Sunday but then I got back to work yesterday after 2 whole weeks of vacation. I hadn't realized how big a part of my day my smoke breaks were. Got me out of the office for a little while every couple-3 hours. Allowed me to catch up with friends/co-workers I don't see on a daily basis. And, at least in the military, the smoke pit is a GREAT place for networking. So, yesterday was pretty rough again. Today's a little better, but not much. I really want to go out side...
Gotta stay strong.
