I know in Japan there's an extensive line of yaoi dating sims. Basically, the whole point of the game is to be the guy and date (and possibly screw) as many guys as possible until you've run the course of the game. However, very few are translated into english; of those, they're strictly available as computer downloads. The good people in the US hierarchy have blocked the import of any of such games for normal american consumption.

Have they blocked them or have the American branches of the game publishers decided they wouldn't have a market in the states?

It's been a long time since I've looked into it; thus, I cannot speak definitively on that question. However, there are a large number of precedents for blocking or editing video games that do not properly align with "family values."
If they have decided that there is no market in the US, then their findings are contrary to popular demand, level of direct japanese import, and use of such games as internet downloads.

A quick look at J-List shows two yaoi H-games available, and not just as digital downloads. I would imagine that very few of these would ever get translated.

I know Nintendo has such a policy, but I didn't think there was an industry wide standard (such as the Comic Code or MPAA rules that are both no longer in effect/adhered to).
