In Reptile Boy Angel says, “This isn’t some fairytale.” What if it is?

Fairytale. What? The name fits. You decide. :0)

There’s a damsel in distress, only they don’t know it yet. She has been taken. A lofty castle with its dark, dank dungeon is her cage. They haven’t told her what they intend to do with her.  She waits in terror for her fate. She prays for a dashing, handsome young man to come rescue her.

Another damsel is out this night. She invites trouble walking alone. A man, a hero, steps out to confront her. He asks her what she is doing there. The damsel will do what she pleases, and berates him for his concern. He is handsome and not so young, yet still looks it. Her heart flutters when she looks upon him.

She is young and beautiful. His heart would beat in a fast patter if it could. Her beauty stirs his blood all the same. She wants to die in his arms. He won’t let her, and he walks away to save her.

She’s not amused. To be spurned by the man of her dreams makes her reckless. She accepts an invitation by a dark knight. His charm and good looks belie the evil within. She is wooed, and she accepts a drink. The damsel knows the rules but she has forgotten. Never eat or drink anything in the Kingdom of Deceit. A slumber falls upon her. It is magical and she can’t be woken. She can’t even dream of a handsome hero to come save her.

A Wise Woman raises the alarm. She blows her horn and the handsome hero answers her hail. With the help of the Wizard they scry out the damsel’s dire circumstance. They must rescue the damsels, because it is written in the stars that there is more than one. Along the way they pick up the village Fool, only he isn’t so foolish, he has been inside the castle and escaped with his life. The Fool is given another name. He is now known as Scout.  They attack the ramparts and the evil doers inside. The rescuers do not realise the damsel in distress is a hero too. She has broken her chains and is defending the other damsels incarcerated with her. She is angry and ashamed. To be caught out in a lie is one thing. To have been caught by her own stupidity is another. She kills the dragon come to eat her. The beast’s acolytes are captured by the handsome, young-looking hero, the Wise Woman, the Wizard, and the Scout.

There is a celebration afterwards. They gather round to toast their success. The damsel who is a hero declines the man of her dreams’ invitation. She teases him with the paltry offer of maybe. That’ll teach him to assume she needed rescuing.

The End
