(Downtown, as you would know if you'd ever been here, is not that big, compared to say, oh, downtown LA.) Where I am on Merle Hay is just fine, and for me to be getting evacuated they'd be

Um...I'm ashamed I didn't hear of the flooding in Iowa, but if I had, I totally would have wondered about you. Sacramento floods a lot too...never my neighborhood because it's not that close to the river, but many people's houses flooded a few years ago when we had the really bad rainy season. So...crossing my fingers you don't lose power or anything!

It's okay; if any of my friends aren't paying close watch to a news media that has consistently sucked for the past couple decades I can't say I really blame them. :) But my mother said she had been fielding a couple calls, so I figured it was worth pre-emptively letting everyone know.

Good ol' 1993! I think EVERYONE in the state, whether they lived here then or not, has been hearing about the flood of 93 this past week.

Ah yes, I remember those days! I wasn't driving then, so no rage that the best road that takes me, oh, anywhere but up into Ankeny is blocked off (and only BARELY under water). But I do remember people coming to parents' houses to shower and things.
