Boooo. Not that anyone in the nation has cared at all about Iowa (I've been watching the polls - in the last two months, we got mentioned three times total for any kind of race), but three of our state supreme court justices were up for retention and there was a huge push by the Republicans to get rid of them because of that ruling on same-sex marriage. Looks like they all just barely lost. :( And so did our moderate democrat of a governor, who kept unemployment locally down to 6.5% and balanced the budget and got IJOBS money for the state for flood relief and oh, generally did a good job. Boooo.
On the bright side, the local judges in Polk County (where I live) were also targeted, but since Polk County is totally the best county in Iowa (thanks, Des Moines!) they all survived. And, uh, we kept most of our incumbents? So it's one good senator, one bad senator, and one craaazy representative (maybe we can finally lose King when we lose a House seat with the census?) again.
The other race I was following was Nevada. If a bunch of democrats have to be voted out, I was honestly hoping to lose Harry Reid, since he sucks as Senate Majority Leader and either of the two guys who'd replace him would be way better and it would have been hilarious to watch Republicans deal with Sharron Angle, but it looks like he edged her out. Boooo.
