I've been buying stuff on eBay for years, and for only slightly less time I've wanted to set up a seller account and get rid of all those things that collect in cupboards and attics over the years. The couple of times I'd tried, I'd always gotten stuck somewhere: no Paypal account, no digital camera, not enough daylight to take good pictures in. Last Sunday I finally got organised. Got the digital camera out, managed to take some decent pictures of at least some of the stuff, and by Sunday night two shiny listings had joined the eBay hordes, waiting eagerly for watchers and bidders to notice them.
It helps that the first one got a bid within 12 hours and the second one sold on the first day. I've spent wasted enough time on eBay to know that I wont be this lucky every time, but I'm still having a hard time not grinning. So now there are lists of other things to sell, lists of places to sort through to find more items, a spreadsheet with costs and profits. It's getting serious. I'm getting serious.
But there is something strangely satisfying about selling things. I've given plenty of stuff to charities and friends before, and although you still get that squeaky clean feeling of purging and clearing clutter, actually getting money for the items definitely adds to the experience. Add to that my love of proper, old-fashioned mail, neatly written envelopes, brown paper packages tied up with strings -I think I'm sold (so to speak...)
Now, what can I sell next?
