Oh, geez, I didn't realize it's been four days since my last post. Maji de? Well, I have an excuse. I've been busier than a very busy thing what with my new job and moving here and there. I'm finally settled back into the dorm (in a room exactly above the room I had last year) and getting into the groove with working.
So I was watching random JE videos from around 2002 on YouTube the other night when I came across an old interview with Kanjani8. It was one of those vids where the 4-Tops were interviewing them (Pi being way more talkative back then, it seems), and near the end, I saw this:
Toma ninja'd his way into the shot! This is exactly why he is my #1 of all time JE boy. Among other things.
The only thing I will say about the Pacific DVD is that it is out. And clearly I need to get it. First download it, then buy it. When I get money.
So, it's time for some drama discussion since I'm finally catching up to the new shows.
MAOU: Best. Drama. EVER. Arguably, of course. I'm really pleased with the way it's going, plot-wise. It's now halfway through the series, and usually dramas get sidetracked or bogged down in subplots or just don't show what they should. Maou has been progressing really well. I saw episode 6 RAW last night, and it's really picking up. I am, however, slightly amazed that Naoto doesn't even SUSPECT Ryo. He's always around, so you'd think he'd start suspecting him as well. It has to come sometime. Acting-wise, Toma is still hot and angsty as Naoto, but there are different facets to his personality. For example, he cares a lot about his father, but he always feels like he's under his father's thumb. The incident has affected him deeply as well, to the point where he can't even function when he thinks about it. Ryo has been incredibly cold and calculating until recently. Gradually, we start to see that he's just human. We start to believe that he was that smiling boy in the flashbacks. And of course his growing feelings for Shiori. I felt so sorry for him in episode 6, because I could really see that he was torn between his feelings for her and his plan. I'm glad there's also a strong ensemble cast, each one different. It's interesting to see how they're all being drawn into this web made by Ryo. I can't wait to see how it all plays out.
CODE BLUE: I'm finally starting to catch up on this drama. I just watched episode 2 the other day, and I must say it's pretty good. Each of the four main characters has their own idea of what working with the helicopter is like, and they all get disappointed or can't do it. Except for Aizawa, but I still feel like there's more to his story. I think it's actually been shown in the recent episodes, but I haven't gotten that far yet. And really, since I haven't seen much, I don't have much to say about it. It's been pretty good, though.
SHIBATORA: I've also only seen the first two episodes, but I love this drama! Koike is both cool and adorable as Taketora. I love how he's good at Kendo as well. In other dramas, he's played the weaker part. I rewatched episode 2 last night, and I think Koike has been working out. He looked bulkier than usual. Yay Koike! I like they set up the drama for him to go after the Onigami. And last night, I also caught some clues from character's facial expressions that I hadn't noticed before. I'm waiting for the smaller RAW files or for the subs before I continue watching.
YASUKO TO KENJI: What can I say? This is my second favorite drama this season. The only problem I really have with it is that things aren't progressing with Kenji and Erika like they are with Yasuko and Jun. I REALLY loved episode 5 and kept squealing with glee at Shota. Shota is majorly good at that evil look. He should be in more dramas as the evil guy! His evil look is right up there with Ohno's maou stare. I like how Ohkura and Matsuhiro--both drummers and good sempai/kouhai friends--play off each other. And I love Erika's character. She's just a tough biker chick under that sweetness. I so want them to get together because they're so perfect for each other. But that can't happen until Kenji can let go of Yasuko and focus on his own happiness.
TOMORROW: Really, the only reason I'm watching this is because I'm editing the subs on the even episodes with TimeLesSub. But I have to watch the odd episodes as well to understand what's going on and also check the previous episode's subs at the beginning. And really, it's a pretty good drama. The hospital is being turned into a celebrity hospital, making the local residents lose health care. It shows the real side of hospital work as well as dealing with stuff that happened eight years ago and medical malpractice and all of that. I'm kind of hoping something romantic-wise happens with the two main characters.
There are other dramas I've been wanting to see that I haven't started yet like Monster Parent and Here is Greenwood. But first I'm going to have to empty out my smaller external hard drive of the Spring dramas. It's only halfway through the drama season. Can't wait to see what the other half has in store for us!
Let's see, not much else has been going on. I finally got around to watching Mirai Koshi Meguru which was so cute and funny. I cracked up at Yuuki because he was so spastic. It was a little strange to see Fukada Kyoko in an older role when I remember her as Yui from Strawberry on the Shortcake. Of course, that was seven years ago. She's 26 now, so of course she looks and sounds older. Still, the drama was fun to watch and had a happy ending. I like dramas with happy endings. Oh, they're doing smoke alarm checks, so they'll probably be here soon.
Ja ne!
