I had a job interview in the small mountain community of Susanville in Lassen County. Since it is close to Reno/Tahoe, my Dad and I made a ski-trip out of my interview. We had a blast snowboarding in Squaw-even thought I ate it and kinda hurt myself. The interview in Susanville went really well, and I could tell they really liked me. They even asked how soon I could start if I got the job, and i told them almost immediately. Susanville is a very cute town, with a population of 15K, it is surrounded by mountains and lakes and very scenic.
On my way home from my interview Humboldt county calls, me wanting to set up an interview the following week. So a few days later my Dad and I head up North for the interview. It rained and snowed the whole drive. This interview also went really well, and they said that they currently have lots of vacancies that they need to fill.
On my way home from Humboldt, Lassen County calls me, saying that they need a social worker immediately, and that since they don't have approval to hire someone permanent, they can offer me a temporary position which they expect will go permanent shortly. I would get paid the MSW rate, just no benefits. I told them I would let them know by the end of the week. I thought about it, and well, I currently don't have a job, and this would give me a chance to use my degree, and I did want something different, and living in Susanville would be different than Bakersfield. So I accepted the position. But since it doesnt technically fulfill Calswec-its not permanent, I have to keep my options open.
The same day that I accepted the position, Ventura County sends me an email saying that they want to interview me... great.. now I have to drive to Ventura from Susanville...
So I start Feb 18th, and I have no plans as far as where I will be living.. I guess I will just have to figure things out once I get there... at least it will be an adventure.
