the adventure continues

So I am still here in SLO, actually Atascadero, at Matt's house. Who is Matt? Well, he is an amazing guy who I just met and have since been inseparable. I should probably explain how I ended up in this situation.

I had a social work exam scheduled on Friday, Sept. 5th, and since I love going on adventures, I decided that it would be fun to "couchsurf" on the central coast. I requested to surf at a few peoples house, but I did not get any response, except from Matt who lives in Atascadero. Matt said that he was out of town that day, but his friend Sarah could host me instead. I decided to take him up on the offer, since I have been meaning to couch surf, and figured that it would be a great opportunity to met some people, in case I end up working in SLO.

After my interview I drove to Sarah's house in Paso Robles, and Sarah was amazingly inviting and friendly. We spent the evening drinking beer and wine and talking about boys, travels, and life. We got along great, it was like we have been friends forever. During the conversation, she kept talking about Matt, and how great he is, and how I have to come back through on Monday, in order to meet him. I was really intrigued, especially since Matt seemed so sweet over the phone, and sent me text messages to make sure I arrived at Sarah's alright.

That night we decided to hit downtown Paso Robles. I have driven through Paso many times, but have never really stopped. It is such a cute little town, with a really cool, downtown area. We went to the local bars and partied with the local boys. I was feeling friendly, so I was chatting wtih anyone and everyone. We made some friends, including a group of Brazilians who are living in town for the wine harvest. Sarah met a boy, who I helped introduce her too, and they are now "dating". Needless to say I feel like I made my mark in that little town.

I then headed North to Santa Cruz, where I spent the next three days, with JP's sister Julia. Julia used to go to Notre Dame, but she recently transfered to UCSC. So I had a blast showing her my favorite places and introducing her to my friends. Julia plays beach volleyball, so we spent Sat and Sun at the main beach by the boardwalk playing with whoever dared to play a game with us. I actually wasn't that bad, and manage to make some decent scores and saves, not to mention that I got a nice tan in the process.

Monday arrived and Matt called me inviting me to his house for dinner and drinks, if I was going to be passing through on my way to Bakersfield. At this point I sorta already developed a crush on him, since he seemed so sweet over the phone and Sarah and her friends where just singing his praises.

I arrive at his house around 8:30,and was warmly greeted by Matt who was busy making margaritas and fajitas. Feeling a little shy, I decided that a few shots of tequila would help calm my nerves. I knew Matt was awesome, when he joined me in the tequila shot drinking. At his house where four other girls, who were all really cool. With some liquid courage inside me, I was able to remain cool and confident. Many margaritas and wine later, half the guest have left, but the remaining folks proceeded to make Matt's office a dance floor. Somehow, Matt and I ended up kissing, and from that point on we have not kept our hands off each other.

I was planning on returning home on Tuesday, but Matt took me to Morro Bay, where we walked around Morro rock, and we then went wine tasting in Paso, and ended the day by eating Thai food.

Matt had another couchsurfer from Germany scheduled to spend the night, so after Thai, we drove to SLO to pick up Ingo at the bus station. The three of us, then spent the night drinking wine and talking about our different cultures and lifestyle.

Today the three of us explored downtown SLO and we had some awesome breakfast burrito at Frank's Hot Dog Stand-ironically, I used to go to Frank's often as a young child.

Since Matt works from home, and I can easily entertain myself, I am still here in Atascadero, and Matt is next to me doing his work thing.

Here are some stats on Matt:
1-he grew up in Ridgecrest on a farm
2-he has his undergrad and masters degree in Agriculture
3-he is an agricultural consultant and is responsible for ag related stuff in the western part of the USA, as a result he is rarely home, since his work is mostly travel.
4-he has been to Chile
5-we are food compatible
6-he also has a bartending license
7-he is the youngest of four kids
8-he is 28, never been married, no kids
9-He is extremely down to earth and really likeable
10-he has awesome taste in music, and we even have the same identical pair of flip flops

the only downfall is that he is always traveling, and rarely home, I think I can live with that though.
