Okay. So. Here I am.

First things first: FJDFJKSDfkaklajdjfafljdfjajfdalkjdfkdkj.

!!!!!~~

This is the most amazing thing. Beyond just your brilliant portrayal of England and Portugal (which is brilliant, by the way), you perfectly captured something that's always bound to come up in Hetalia fic, and that's when two countries who are friends betray one another for policy, and the repercussions of that.

I thought you portrayed England's feelings and rationale perfectly here. He's not cruel; he's selfish, but he cares and his guilt is there but not overdone, existing together with his determination as an empire. Everything about the way you wrote him was utterly perfect--this is some of the best 19th century England characterization that I've ever seen. It was absolutely brilliant. I am in awe.

This: He runs his thumb over the glass lip of the decanter, thinks it over. “Bottoms up, old boy,” he says bracingly, and drinks what’s left of the port. He’ll probably need it.

And this: England stood there for a long time after that ( ... )

Aww, I'm just glad it made you happy. I feel embarrassed leaving such long comments sometimes. But now you see why I haven't gotten to the Howl's Moving Castle one yet because I'm always compelled to write comments like this for fics I really like and I haven't had time to produce the EPIC WALL OF TEXT I want to for that yet.

I'm not too kind at all, haha XD; I'm being honest because I loved it XD, and it made me so, so happy. I know exactly how you feel about things that end up being written so quickly, but this was just brilliant. It . . . it really is :(. Portugal had every right to expect protection of his interests along with England's, and instead he gets this; and it's almost like England's never trusted him, because he's treating Portugal's interest like he might treat France. God, England, why do you push away everyone you love ( ... )

No way, it's awesome. I like seeing which parts people liked the most and why. It makes me feel like I did something right. XD L-LOL YES. I DO SEE. Though you could always leave a comment in each separate part if that makes it easier. I LOVE WALLS OF TEXT. <3

Ahhhh omg I - I didn't think it was all that great tbh but I'm happy you're happy! :DDD This was pretty much Portugal's last stand as an Empire and it was going so well until England crushed his dreams with his oppression. :< YES. THIS. He's treating Portugal like France. That's it exactly. And because he's trying to beat France and Port's in the way, he's kicking him to the curb. Srsly England. Actually lol, France will call him on that, and they'll get into a huge fight/near-war again. And then they'll have to write the Entente Cordiale. |D ( ... )

ALL RIGHTY THEN.

He certainly thinks of it that way XD. Oh, god, I can just see it. "Not yet~" *leer* And then Portugal would be all . . . why the hell not? *bitter* I THINK JUST FISHING IS HIS SPECIALTY. ANYWHERE HE CAN DROP A LINE. *shot for this pun*

It's true! But . . . yeah, it's really really hard to tell. It is, and that's what's so nerve-wracking about them. It certainly is. Oh, oh, England.

I--I hope so . . . *nervous*

Oh, yes. And America's opinion of England changing all the while XD, lol. IT REALLY DOES, DOESN'T IT? I'M SO EXCITED NOW. Yes, because England didn't really think it through at all; he just went . . . I need to go see Portugal, and picked the flowers on the way, and . . . Portugal's all . . . aww. Not only did he seriously save me, but he's adorable and he's into me and man . . . maybe he's not the silly kid I thought--well, he is silly, but--and god, Spain, yeah, you would! Oh, Spain. YES, YES IT IS. I'M PRETTY FOND OF IT MYSELF.

Lol. The mental images. Ahahaha. Oh, Romano. Just. Lol

Spain calls himself the country of passion, France says he's the country of love, so what does that make Portugal? XD Yessss oh god, I can see him just letting France coax him into bed. Because you know, just before his 1910 Revolution, he was apparently inspired by France's Third Republic and wanted a similar regime. |D HAHAHA OH GOD, THERE ARE SO MANY FISH IN THE SEA FRANCE-NIICHAN.

It makes me wonder if England has the right to be devastated with Port for sleeping with France, god knows he's done it enough himself. Though of course, the circumstances were entirely different. XD;

'Dude, dude England, man, I had no idea you were such a - ' 'Oh shut up, America. Port, stop filling his head with nonsense.' XD SO AM I AAAAH, WHY IS IT SO AMAZING. Didn't even know why he wanted to see him, just that he did, and he brought flowers and the old copper engagement, I mean alliance, ring that Port still wears to this day. X) Awww yes Port, he's silly, but in the utterly sweet way that he could probably get used to. SPAIN ILU. NEVER STOP ( ... )

The country of damn hot sex and pretty smiles? XD Man, I can see it, too. And so different from England, which might have been a comfort, around then. Those revolutionaries. Always a tough time in a country's life--I feel like they tend to be all over the place, emotionally, when they start in on that. AND HE'S A MASTER FISHERMAN.

He would be devastated, though, he's so emotionally . . . needy, under all the tsun. It's not fair at all, and I really don't think he has the right (though the circumstances were different), but I think he'd feel that way nonetheless.

Ahahahaha, yes, EXACTLY. And it JUST IS. He was so embarrassed, and Port was so touched despite himself, because England was actually trying to court, despite his embarrassment and touchy, bristly exterior and emotional fail. OH GOD, SPAIN. I'm imagining Portugal is NOT thrilled with him though. WHAT ARE YOU DOING OVER HERE INTERRUPTING MY PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS. Oh, poor Inglaterra--did you have to pour water on his head? GET OUT SPAIN I WILL SPEAK WITH ( ... )

Ahahaha yes. Exactly. Damn hot sex and pretty smiles. XD HE TOPS IN ALL CATEGORIES. France is so good at comforting when it means he's going to get laid. |D But France has known the Iberian brothers for a hell of a long time so I assume Portugal wouldn't mind too terribly if he was being sympathetic. XD Portugal would be so torn aaah. He loves his monarchy but his current king just pulled the rug out from under his feet and I don't think Port was very happy with him. I see his revolution as a mental breakdown. ;; HE SHOULD GET AN AWARD ( ... )

HE DOES. He certainly does. France is actually good at comforting in general, he just won't admit to it--he only does it when he has the incentive. I'm sure Port wouldn't, and he could use the sympathy. Gah, yeah. Totally. I think I tend to see internal revolutions like that, generally. Oh, poor Port. (I wonder how guilty England felt by THAT point.) THE ULTIMATE FISHERMAN AWARD.

It's true. He really needs to work on that unreasonable demands thing. It's really true. :( Keeps coming back to haunt him. Yeah . . . oh, England.

It's true; complete inexperienced, has no idea what to do, and Portugal would be. And quite flattered. YES YES YES. Oh, Spain, that's why he had to kick your ass during the reign of Elizabeth. You embarrassed him in front of his ladylove Portugal. (And I bet that fall hurt! In armor and all XD.)

He really does. XD Me too! YES. I totally see it this way. Yes yes yes. Someone else who sees this truth.

Yes, yes, he does. Ahahahaha. XD

Such a waste of your non-sexual talents France-niichan. |D But then he wouldn't be France. I can just see him and Spain blockading England from going through their houses to see Portugal after that. Brothers-in-arms and all that. Well they bombed the streets and shelled the royal palace when the monarchy was overthrown and I just imagine Port being manhandled by his new government. Then he turns up at Spain's house bruised and black-eyed and shorn; because his long hair always represented his Empire to me and they hacked it off after that. (SO GUILTY, I CAN'T EVEN. At least I hope ( ... )
