This is the most amazing thing. Beyond just your brilliant portrayal of England and Portugal (which is brilliant, by the way), you perfectly captured something that's always bound to come up in Hetalia fic, and that's when two countries who are friends betray one another for policy, and the repercussions of that.

I thought you portrayed England's feelings and rationale perfectly here. He's not cruel; he's selfish, but he cares and his guilt is there but not overdone, existing together with his determination as an empire. Everything about the way you wrote him was utterly perfect--this is some of the best 19th century England characterization that I've ever seen. It was absolutely brilliant. I am in awe.

This: He runs his thumb over the glass lip of the decanter, thinks it over. “Bottoms up, old boy,” he says bracingly, and drinks what’s left of the port. He’ll probably need it.

Much as it breaks my heart that England was such a nob to Portugal, I adore this story, I adore their fondness for one another, and I LOVED the sex.

hahaha Portugal is pretty much sex-personified even if he doesn't mean to be. And England, oh England, they're so close he thinks he can say and do whatever he want. |D Big mistake.

A lot of things England did to Portugal towards the 20th century broke my heart. And Portugal still kept coming back. /cries
