Dr Who
I'm watching through Dr Who when I find the time, and I am almost finished with the second season. I recently watched an episode which, though it wasn't one of the best of the series, had an interesting closing monologue. I thought it was a rather good summary of the theme of the series before realizing it was a rather good summary of speculative fiction as a genre.
When you're a kid, they tell you it's all... grow up. Get a job. Get married. Get a house. Have a kid, and that's it. But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that. It's so much darker. And so much madder. And so much better.
