Yesterday was interesting.  To sum up my entry before you read it, I still have my job, as does everybody else on my team.  More information under the cut.

Well, today was the ten year anniversary of me getting my first real job - running a mail encoding machine at Consolidated Mail Services in Olympia.  I only worked once a week, and it was the graveyard shift, but I was okay with it.  I ended up working there as a mail truck driver several years later, which was a job that would help me pay for most ( Read more... )

So, at work, we're doing Bike to Work month starting tomorrow.  There will be a competition between three teams:  Devs, IT, and overhead.  I'm on the dev team.  Whichever team gets the most miles summed from all participants wins ( Read more... )

Coworker 1:  "You fixed that bug, right?"

Coworker 2:  "Yeah."

Coworker 1:  "The UK clients are saying it's still bugged."

Coworker 2:  "Well, it should be fixed and...wait, UK?  Just tell them we beat them in two wars!"

I'm more comfortable at work.  While occasionally we phase into the manual testing of doom mode, overall I'm being productive there.  It just so happens that my last company (aQuantive) was just purchased by Microsoft, which could potentially open the door for my triumphant return.  There's no guarantee, however, so I'm not turning in my ( Read more... )

My work situation put me in a bad mood today (have to work tomorrow, and potentially work overtime every day next week), but after hearing about my parents' house being robbed, I figure worse things could happen.

I suppose I could consider this a lesson on keeping things in perspective.
