It started off with our old trailer getting sold. Basically we broke even, which I was thankful for. I was prepared to take a hit on it but the deal worked out in the end. The Tundra got a B&W gooseneck hitch installed, so its ready to haul our new Adam's Trailer.
Saturday was a busy but long day. It started with a drive to Greensboro to pick up the new trailer. The drive there wasn't too bad. The drive back was long. Natalie cut her towing teeth on I-85 and did a terrific job given that she had never driven anything even close to that size before. After we got back, we had no problem undocking the trailer. Then we made a run to pick up Paige's truck and go grab a pair of 900lb bales of hay. It was a long day overall, but we got the trailer home safely and it set us up for what was hopefully a nice Sunday.
The weather wasn't great, but we made our maiden voyage in the trailer with the horses to King's Mountain. Natalie was pretty tight on the way, understandably so given the weight she was pulling behind the truck. In spite of the stress she still handled the truck like a pro.
Once we got to the site things turned out really well. Freckles feet were a little tender on some of the rocks and was a little spooky overall, but otherwise we had a good time playing on the ground. My only real regret was that I couldn't ride her, but to be honest that was likely for the best. It had rained quite a bit the past few days and the mud might have made for a tough ride, given that she hadn't been on the trail all winter. That moment was fleeting, however, and overall I just really enjoyed the time out there. There is something incredibly gratifying about helping make one of your wife's dreams come true. Just seeing the smile on her face the whole time we were there made my heart sing.
The ride back was much better, stress-wise, and we unloaded the trailer like we had been doing it for years. You could really see the payoff of all the work we had been doing with the horses in how easy both of them loaded on and off the trailer.
The Tundra officially got broken in this weekend and handled everything really well. It handles pretty much like I expected, though obviously I got most of this from the passenger POV. I think we made a good investment on this one.
The only real knock I have on this weekend is that it passed far too quickly. But I guess that's a sign of the great ones, eh?
