Congrats to Gov. Easley and the North Carolina State Legislature on passing a raise to the minimum wage to $6.15. They did what Congress seems incapable of, standing up for the working class folk in this country.
The Federal minimum wage of $5.15 hasn't been raised in 9 years. That's a disgrace. Personally, I wish it wasn't necessary to do this. But supply-side economics simply hasn't proven effective in keeping the workers in this country earning a livable wage. Admittedly the downward labor pressures of illegal immigration have something to do with it. But the rising tide simply doesn't raise all boats like Reagan's revolution expected.
Hopefully the rest of the country will catch up soon.
