More Musings on Japanese Animation

  • For some reason, it didn’t occur to me until the other day that it’s called "menos" because good souls are called "pluses," right? Of course, that doesn’t explain why it’s in Spanish. . . . Incidentally, "Hueco Mundo" means "Hollow World"—makes sense.
  • Apparently people named "Chizuru" are yuri-prone in a similar way to people named "Shizuru" and "Shizuru". She seems to be getting bolder as the show goes on, but is still a minor enough character that she only acts up once every few episodes. [Note: Okay, now I've watched a couple more episodes after making this comment and she's been completely abandoned by the flow of the story. Bah humbug.]
  • Whoever gave Abarai his first name apparently either badly misjudged him or has a sick sense of humor.
  • What's with all the foxes (1 2) and fox-faced people (1 2) who speak Kansai dialect?

I can’t reach..."
Well that sucks..."
Dude"
You’re Kuchiki freakin’ Rukia, damn it!"
I couldn’t believe that story even if I wanted to!"
Okie-dokie then."
You got some big cahones [sic]."
Yeah, after those, I kinda gave up on typing them all up. Colloquialisms get old after a while.
