New rule: never ever ever make up your own directions when they are given to you by mapquest (at least me, they always turn out completely fucked up).
So for all of you people that didn't bother to listen or who were lazy, etc.
That was supposed to be my route home (the nice highlighted bit). And by home I mean stopping at the outlets to browse before coming home. However, do you see the US30 sign? Yes, well, later in the directions, you are on US30 for, oh maybe 10 miles as it's combined with I70E for a bit. However, I saw a US30 when I was driving happily along the new I99. "Oh look," I said, "that's a road later in my trip. Maybe if I took it, it would get me there faster..." And so I did. However, I was an idiot and didn't check a map at all before I left, just wrote down the directions. So, the US30W I was going to be taking was much farther east. And so yes, going west would lead me right to I70 (and I70 gets me both to the outlets and home, how convenient).
So do you want to see the trip I wound up taking? And thus the 7 hour drive that at the very most would have been 4 hours (and was estimated by mapquest at 2:50 -- not including the 45 or so minutes it was going to take me to get home from Hagerstown)?
The trip in blue is my "scenic" way of getting back to Maryland. Yeah, I basically almost drove to Pittsburgh and then drive back to Maryland.
I'm tired, hungry, annoyed at myself and just blah. And now I'm poor. That little excursion was pricey (stupid gas prices) and the $5 for the tolls that I shouldn't have had to take. Blah.
I also need to find someplace to have a seder tomorrow, since I missed today's. =/
