things they don't tell you about when you're a kid*

--that you have to fill out & sign so many forms in your life. at a new doctor or dentist. for jobs, for housing. for a loan, for all kinds of stuff. whether electronically or on paper, there will be too many forms & so much writing. (this is what inspired this list.)
--you will end up playing phone tag more often than you would like. or something similar with e-mail or text message. i swear that 10% of adult life is waiting for someone to get back to you.
--making appointments kind of ties in to the above, if you have to leave a voicemail or go through a portal thing for an appointment. and if you don't like talking on the phone, it is stressful.
--the world is full of jerks. some don't mean to be, they've had a bad day/week/month/year. some of them do mean it, you try to avoid these.
--there is not just one right way to do everything. there's a way that works for you, a way that works for now & the way your boss tells you to do it.
--your body will betray you. not at 50+ like you think, but at 30 (sad, but true). you "tweak" something (knee, back, Etc.) once & it's very likely to happen again.
--foods and drinks that didn't bother your stomach before, will sometimes do so now. which ties into the above. this will make you annoyed and sad almost equally.
--if you live alone & get sick (or with someone who is not helpful when you are) you're on your own. unless you have friends or family that are willing to come over to help you. i'm not talking major illness here, even just a cold or the flu. no one to get you food or ginger ale. no one to help you to the bathroom or clean up after you puke (hopefully in a container of some sort). this will most likely make you more sad than annoyed.
--fiber is very important. it's always important, but more so as you age.

*you might have been told some of this, maybe not.
