So, as some of you know, I have been jogging throughout the summer consistently. I have taken a good deal of pride in this, and I feel better for it. Today while I was out I hit a milestone: I hurt myself. It seems to have been a gradual thing that started in my left knee. I was about 25 minutes on the trail and I start noticing a small discomfort in the knee. I continue on but it grows. I start walking to cross a street and notice that it goes away. Once I'm across I begin jogging again and a few steps into it I come down and it hurts pretty badly. Right around the bottom of the knee, from left to right about 4 inches total, there is just a sharp pain that hits. I walk for a short bit and it recedes, but just like the first time if I start jogging the sharp pain kicks in after a few seconds. I decide that these things happen and simply walk home the rest of the way.
I am disappointed of course, but I’ll take a small jog tomorrow and see if it was just an isolated incident. Whatever happens, this is just a small hiccup in my overall jogging plans. I’m still waiting for that oh so special milestone that I’m sure will come in a few months: my first pair of totally worn out running shoes.
*update* So...I'm most likely not going jogging tomarrow at all now. The more I walk around the apartment just doing my normal stuff, the more it hurts. I think it's time for ice.
