"Oh, what a beautiful princess..."
Damnit. Syaoran knew he was blushing, and couldn't manage to make it go away. He told himself it was only because he knew Tsukishiro-san was in the audience (aarg, no, that was just making him blush more, aarg aarg arrrrrg). It was not because of Sakura. She was not the reason for his blush. No way.
He heard the rustle as Sakura stepped closer in her prince's costume, but kept his eyes screwed shut. Damn this stupid play, damn whatever quirk of Fate had cast him as the princess and Sakura as the prince. Just damn.
Dimly, he heard Chiharu and Naoko reciting their lines, but it was drowned out by the pounding of his heart in his ears as Sakura leaned over him. She was close enough now that Syaoran could feel her breath on his face, and his own breathing hitched almost painfully in his chest.
"The princess can be awakened with a kiss of true love." "So, if you give the princess a kiss of true love..."
Sakura hesitated, leaning close over Syaoran where he lay. "Li-kun..."
Syaoran's eyes popped open, just as Sakura's lips brushed against his.
And then the theatre went Dark.
Much later, Syaoran would always swear that the Card had waited on purpose.
