Been a while...

Just thought I'd put up a quick note. I've been crazy busy with my school work, and am working on my qualifying exams right now. I got the three questions last month, and have to December 22 to answer them.

I'm working on question 2 now, and it's not going well. These questions are TOUGH! I spend all day reading and part of the time writing... and I hope I can finish in time.

The burned trailer/electronic workshop is gone, except for some scraps, roofing metal I can re-use, and a pile of dirt filled with scraps and trash that I've scraped up. I got some money in and purchased a (used) Struck Mini-dozer, which made it possible to finish everything (except that pile of dirt, and once my qualifying exams are done that should be gone too!). It's one source of stress reduced - it's not likely that the county will come around and harass us with their much-loved $1,000/10,000 a day fines.

I'm doing OK. BP still up and down (I've learned that if I don't get out and exercise every day, it starts creeping up - but with the load I have having that time is nearly impossible. I'm stressed because we have been clobbered with so many bad things while I've been working on my exam (Sue's thyroid cancer may have returned, I was hit by a guy not watching where he was driving and have to deal with the damaged car, my computer broke down and I had to get a new video card... stuff like that and almost constant). But I don't have much choice - I have to keep struggling, or die.

We've been stressed out by the election as well and are scared, maybe even a bit terrified because of Trump's win. The bigotry is through the roof here. Sue converted to Judaism almost a year ago (which is nothing like what we were told by the churches) and she's fearing for her friends and for us - not only because of her conversion but because of our ancestry and because we're both liberal and friendly to the people the Christians love to hate (because the ones we meet are all decent people). We've seen a huge increase in racist and religionist (Christian) attacks since the election - several on my campus and others we hear and read about. I hope I can finish my degree before the things he's supporting destroys that possibility! To give you an idea, Sue was proselytized by a McDonald's employee a couple of days ago, followed by being handed a tract by another Good Christian. She rarely gets into town. They're getting worse and worse.

A hint to what we see coming: according to what I've read (reasonably accurate source), Palin is on the short list for Trump's cabinet, and nearly every person around him is a militant Christian Dominionist. His VP has been open about converting the US to a "Christian Nation" (as they define it). Since I'm no longer Christian, there is a good chance I'd end up on their "enemies of God/apostate" list... and the punishment (according to the Bible) for an apostate is death.

We may have to flee the country... except we don't have the resources.
