Our school assigns school emails when you become a student, and unless you're also faculty or permanent staff, you get one through Google Apps. Even if you don't request one you still get one (you have to have a school log-on and when you get that you get the email address, which is meant for official communication. I think it's partly because I'm a walkaway from the Assemblies of God. They have very long memories, and as recently as a little over a year ago were trying to get me to "return to the fold" - stalking. I've heard from a number of walkaways over the years who had experienced episodes of stalking or harassment (or worse) done in an attempt to drag them back.

A teaching (pushed by their ersatz "university") is that suffering brings people closer to God, and that people can be coerced into "returning to the fold" by lots of bad things happening (it's from the "Shepherd's staff" teaching - they taught that a shepherd carried a staff partially to break the legs of the sheep that strayed, and then carried them home to care for them until they were better). Walkaways are considered either "enemies of God who were never Christian" or "lost sheep who have strayed". I remember those teachings well from my AoG days, when I hung out with the "ministry" students being "trained". In spite of all of the evidence to the contrary, they still seem to believe that they can make people miserable enough that they will go back, and I've heard that ideology within the last two or three years. I think that also has a little bit to do with it.

An online friend of mine says they set up and do bad things to people because misery makes a person easier to manipulate and control. That also makes a lot of sense.

This area is generally regarded as worse than most and I think that is another factor that is part of the equation.

Other than that, I don't understand why they seem to have singled me out more than most.

I'm past sick of it, but they just don't seem to understand any part of "NO!" (or "leave me alone!").
