Classes: Not Sure if Want

Jan 11, 2009 22:18

For the sake of following most everyone else's lead, here's my schedule for the upcoming semester (including the one class I'm really waffling about dropping):

Monday (and Wednesday)
08:30 - 11:20 Basic Typography
11:30 - 12:20 The Holocaust
02:30 - 05:20 Beginning Sculpture I
06:30 - 09:20 Beginning Graphic Design

Tuesday (and Thursday)
11:00 - 12:15 Advanced Fiction Writing
02:00 - 04:50 Beginning Printmaking I

Friday
11:30 - 12:20 The Holocaust

...I'm kind of considering dropping that Holocaust class, though. (Jumping from 12 to 18 credit hours in the space of a single semester makes me a touch nervous. However, I'm going to see what the workload is like in my other (read: mostly necessary for graduation) classes before I decide. If I think I can handle this semester, then I'll keep it, if I don't, then I'll drop it.)

And getting up for an 8:30 class after more than a semester of not having to get up before nine for any reason whatsoever is going to be fun. At least it's typography? I just hope that doesn't end up being incredibly boring or something. D:

Also (and slightly related): tempest_arashi has been trying to convince to app over at countshire sometime this semester, too. I've promised her I will if my workload doesn't threaten to kill me right away, because I'm also trying to make sure I've got time in March to listen to U2's newest and play RE5. I've also never RP'd before in my life, really, and am kind of terrified at the prospect of starting now.

On another note, yesterday was the tenth anniversary of my grandfather's death. I miss him a lot, and really wish I'd had the chance to get to know him better (one of the most painful side-effects of being an army brat for me: I barely know my extended family). I also wish he could see me as I am now, since I'm so much happier with myself now than I was.

Around this time ten years ago, I believe we had recently found out my father was being transferred to Australia for a tour of duty, I'd had the right half of my face shredded by a tree, my cousin Tara was soon-to-be-baptized, and I was in the fifth grade.

I was also terrified of zombies, aliens, robots, and death (I hated scary movies/games in a very big way), obsessed with pokémon, refused to watch either DBZ or Sailor Moon, had never even heard of Gundam Wing, barely wrote, drew wolves that looked more like tadpoles on lined paper, had bangs, a tan, and light-blonde hair.

Wow, how times have changed.
