Greene - Round Two

Feb 11, 2017 17:47

We return to Arcadia to meet with the Greenes for their first winter! As it's winter, there isn't any farming to be done, so they'll have to find other ways to be productive. Fortunately, they find a few ways to do just that! It's a pretty packed round for these siblings, so tuck on in! (Also we're looking at like... 260 pics oops so maybe get a snack, too!)

There is no time to be wasted and right away, Dallas purchases Arcadia's first grocery, Green Grocer, with the help of a loan from Maddeleine's First Bank of Arcadia.

And off they head to the teeniest little, most cramped grocery ever.

Groceries - and fresh produce! - must be high in demand, because Maddox appears nearly immediately! He makes a fast beeline straight for the fresh tomatoes. During autumn, the Greene siblings managed to harvest a lot of tomatoes - so many that even after saving some for their own fridge, they managed still to have overwhelming numbers left to sell. Which is great, obviously, since no farming will be done during winter!

Though Dallas has shown time and time again that she tends to favor books and plants over people, she turns out to be a natural sales woman! Or maybe the temptation of fresh produce is so spectacularly high she hardly has to do any work.

Whatever it is, she is good at it.

"Were any harmful pesticides used? I appreciate the idea of fresh tomatoes but... not if it has any risks, you know what I mean?"

"Grover, my pal, would I ever steer you wrong? Yes, okay, a couple plants had to be treated. But only a couple! And certainly not the ones these tomatoes came from!"

".....mmmmmm. idk....."

"I promise you, dude."

"Well. Okay! :3"

It's definitely a cramped little shop, but everysim seems to get by pretty well! Occasionally someone gets trapped in a corner or dang ol Rory Ceret makes his way behind the counter but otherwise it's fine!

Dempsey is not quite as natural at his task as Dallas is at hers, but the first transaction is made, and Dempsey accepts the first dollar earned by Dallas and the Green Grocer! :33

Meanwhile, produce is flying off the shelves and they are racking up some stars! Dallas is ever so.... er.... pleased? Possessed by delight? \o/

Hadn't quite gotten the sky mod on this lot yet, but I just liked how picturesque it was, hah.

Easy peasey tomato squeezey.

In no time, rank one is reached! Dallas opts to assess mood; though sales are remarkably easy to make in this grocery, it would do well to have some powers of perception.

So much produce has flown off the shelves, Dallas needs to do some restocking to keep up with the demands!

Dempsey, even at work, finds a moment to spare for his ~twu wuv~ Logan.

I forgot to disable witches lmao but it's okay because it could be cool to have some supernaturals in the hood.... Rory seems to agree.

It's been a long day and Dallas is starving, so she heads to the tiny employee's room for a quick grilled cheese.

As Maeve is expecting, it's important for her to keep fresh, healthy produce on hand, and Dallas does her best to entice her with this. After all, any prodigy of the mayor-to-be need to grow up healthy and strong!

Don't think we can blame this on the pregnancy hormones, Dempsey...

Dempsey takes yet another break from his post and has a little dance to buy mode sims 1 music with Logan under some hella bright fluorescent lights.....

The evening at Greene Grocer ends with Dallas earning a bronze badge in sales AND the grocery hitting rank 2!

Why WOULDN'T someone kick over the can as they're away from home SELLING GROCERIES TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD? They're here saving the people of Arcadia while someone tries to continue their push for bio warfare what the heckie.

Even though he's dead exhausted, Dempsey goes out to tend to the roaches (his energy was highest). They can't leave them out there like that, after all. :/

Aight then, Dallas. D:

Morning comes, and with it, some sparkling, healthy fruit parfait, whoa! Dallas wakes up and joins her brother for some.

Moons!

These dang family sims and their needs for babies.... :| Though it's not his OTH, Dempsey is CONSTANTLY rolling wants for nature-related activities, probably moreso than Dallas is, so he gets to spend a lot of time searching for bugs, birbwatching, and taking hikes.

That is, of course, when Logan isn't around.

It always looks so creepy when they make a beeline for someone currently doing something else lmao

Clearly there's too many sims around for Dallas's general comfort.

That Dallas and Dashiel don't get along comes as NO surprise. He's so rude and apparently does not share her stance on eco-friendly, anti-pollution options. Go figure.

It's just as well that she DOES get along with Rory Ceret, though. (Rory seems to be very hit or miss with the people of Arcadia.)

Maddox has a tendency to invite Maeve over while he's visiting, or vice versa, really. They are terribly attached to each other, these two. (And I'm terribly attached to them!)

Rather surprisingly, Dallas seems quite keen about Maeve's baby bump. It seems like she's looking forward to the baby to be! :3

Good job, ACR. This could have been an ominous bout of foreshadowing, if Logan was the controlled sim here lmao

While Dempsey has a post-coital nap (why do I love using the phrase post-coital when it sounds so hideous) Dallas decides to prepare a rainbow trout dinner.

Unfortunately it.... doesn't go so well. But at least it wasn't a fire! Dempsey gags it down anyway. That's what family love is all about.

Night falls, and with it, so does snow. Hello, winter!

When she wakes, Dallas sits down to write a check for 1,367 and sends it to Maeve. (That loan to buy the grocery store gave them a lot of left over money, so might as well capitalize.)

And then it's off to the grocery store, where snow has dusted all the outside produce, hah.

Oh HEY! This lady is back!!!! Her name is Joan Strover, and it turns out she's the under cover reporter!

Also, she's just REALLY pretty. *o*

Of all the days for her to come by, it's when there's some trouble brewing. Maeve is really not here for all this waiting, I guess. D:

Dallas has to make up for that and makes sure to lay it on real good for Joan. It's a good grocery store, after all, and they're just starting out. Dempsey might be a bit slow on the register, but it takes time to learn these skills!

While Joan does her thing, Dallas does HER thing, and the shelves are quickly being emptied.

Still, Dempsey REALLY needs to learn that register skill faster. Please!

Despite the few hiccups, Joan not only writes them a good review but they're also rewarded the best of the best award!!!! (Which is a relief, because I love this tiny little grocery!)

Look at this wall of Great Stuff (TM).

Rank 3!

So many tomatoes have been sold.

And so there is much restocking to be done.

A shooting star falls over Green Grocer as they close up for the night. Surely it's a sign of good things to come!

One of those random Dallas is so pretty I love her face pics lmao

With taxes paid, the Greenes were able to use some of their left over loan money to decorate a bit and add some color and life to their home. I really like these spaces a lot - it just makes the home feel much less barren. The lucky cat and piggy bank from the First Bank of Arcadia grace the living room, as well. :3

Always scribbling in her diary.

These two never change. Well. Really it's MADDELEINE who never changes but, you know. Some sims of Arcadia are more... inclined.... to fall in line with her than others, you know? Oh, Dempsey.

And then quite suddenly and very unceremoniously, this happened! (And Maddeleine continues her bizarre habit of bearing witness to many of the romantic situations of Arcadia lmao)

As both have a want to get engaged to each other locked in and Dempsey is a Family sim hellbent on having a family and children, it was only a matter of time before he dropped to his knee. Considering how hella into each other they are, despite the whole Logan visitng the St. Claire's and having some flirts (that Dempsey doesn't know about), well. Why the hell not go for it?

Of course, Logan says yes, and Dempsey has quite a swoon about it. Everything is lining up! :3

As one expects.

Meanwhile, Dallas and Rory stand outside the door and discuss the likelihood that their siblings are currently woohooing.......... oh..... okay...

Maddeleine and Dallas have struck up a surprising and unanticipated friendship.

(I say this about like, half of Maddeleine's relationships, I know, but look. When she's a mean sim with few nice points hell bent on stealing all the newspapers for the purpose of her paper-hat-wearing newspaper stealing gang and gets her jollies by kicking over garbage bins without any consideration or care for the plague she brings to the new fledgling town and the risk of destroying everything and everyone, well. Who ISN'T surprised when she manages friendship with people - especially the likes of shy Dallas who flocks to family and plants and takes forever to warm up and likes to look after people. They're practically polar opposites!)

idk what this is but it's cute she's so cute she's the worst and I love her to dEATH

!!!!! /oh/!

A sparkling, healthy salad is made and shared by all. :3

And then more of THIS happened. (I bet the pick up line was something about that farmer's body needing some kinks worked out HAHAHAHA)

It's not unwanted, though. :333

My girls have cruuuuuuushes!!!! ON EACH OOOOOOOTHEEEERRRRRRRR EEEEEE EEEEEEEEE :333

I love this interaction so much it's really cute they're freaking adorable oh my god.

First kisses are so adorable, so sweet. :333

Dallas bids Maddeleine goodnight and their guests take leave so she and Dempsey can retire and get some sleep.

Mornings in the Greene household begin in a very typical fashion. But then it's time for something atypical.

That is, the first remodeling job of Arcadia! (Thanks Maddox hahaha) With Dempsey engaged to Logan and a budding romance between Maddeleine and Dallas, it looks like a bigger house will be necessary. While it's uncertain if Dempsey would move in with Logan or not, for sure Dallas will stay - after all, she, more than Dempsey is the one most dedicated to the farm. Dempsey has dreams outside of the family farm, and it might suit him to move out eventually. But should it ever come to such a point for Maddeleine and Dallas, she likes to hope perhaps she could somehow convince the treasurer to move in to the family farm with her. (Though... one really can't picture MADDELEINE doing work in the gardens.... lmao)

A (small) second story addition is built, with Dempsey's bedroom moved up stairs and a (yet empty) second bathroom is added. It doesn't leave a LOT of room for further expansion, but they'll figure it out. The wall is taken out from his bedroom to open the space up, hopefully for an additional living space or maybe for some skilling or hobby objects. Doing so sort of undid the cute little nook I'd been fond of, but it all works out in the end. It's given them quite a lot of space, though; they'll be able to spring for a larger dining table when necessary!

It's surely a sign of good things to come.

Logan shows up, while Dempsey is hard at work fixing the television.

Just in time for a dang electrocution!!!! D:

Dallas comes running in concern, but can barely look on, through her absolute horror.

Fortunately, Dempsey survives, and it's nothing a really, REALLY good hot shower can't fix.

...until THAT happens.... the Greenes must be having some exceptionally bad luck to balance out all the good that they've been accumulating or something oh my god!

Dempsey valiantly extinguishes the fire, while Dallas and Logan collectively lose their entire shit. This is EXACTLY the kind of stuff Dallas worried about when first moving to Arcadia! What if the fire had been bigger? What if it'd consumed the house? What if Dempsey had DIED????

(I'd have been so pressed if it'd ruined any of the renovations ngl lmao what TIMING)

Dempsey is just happy to be alive, to be honest.

Dallas feels a little weak and faint, but Logan seems to be quickly recovered. She must be swooning with how capable her man is.

Poor Dallas doesn't recover quite as well, and instead plummets into aspiration failure. D: All her fears have come to life and it's just so OVERWHELMING.

The shrink has to pay a visit and.... Dallas has a werewolf moment? idk idk look she's working this out okay

When the house got a remodeling, they also got a swanky telescope. But Dempsey is not exactly using it for good.....

I guess spring must be on the horizon, if Dempsey went for a winter walk and came back chased by bees lmao

Probably because of the uhhhh.... aspirational failure, Dallas wants to learn Lifelong Happiness - and hurrah she is successful!

Knowledge sim that she is, Dallas takes to the telescope. (And maybe she does a little bit of hunting for aliens - come ON what do you expect? Of course she'd like to contact outside life!)

lmao at Dempsey impatiently waiting for a turn.

I had no idea it could fail!!!! Look at her frustration! Me too, darling!

As I'd never set out the dang nature bug box before, I'd NEVER witnessed these rainbow bugs before! Naturally I assumed they were typical plauge-carrying vermin and sent Dempsey to destroy them lmao but I did some researching later cos WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT RAINBOW?! and learned they came from the dang bug box.

Dempsey makes it to the telescope after all before being shooed off to bed.

Sigh, I should have let him stay up and play all night as he wanted. :<

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT THE TELESCOPE THEY /LITERALLY/ JUST GOT THAT ;A; THEY HAVEN'T EVEN CONTACTED THE ALIENS YET!!!!!!!!

Hermione Matsumoto, reporting for duty!!!!!! (I shit you not, that is her name.)

Everything is LITERALLY JUST TOO MUCH for poor Dallas. First Dempsey gets electrocuted, they experience a fire, and now there's a freaking burglary in place?! WHAT DID SHE SAY, DEMPSEY, SHE SAID IDK ABOUT THIS ARCADIA THING SOUNDS A LITTLE RISK AND DEMPSEY WHAT DID YOU SAY NO DALLAS LISTEN TO ME EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY IT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT ADVENTURE.

WHAT KIND OF ADVENTURE IS THIS DEMPSEY?!

TWO ASPIRATION FAILURES WITHIN LIKE 24 HOURS ;A;

Outside, Hermione gets in a kerscuffle with the robber (Kyle something is his name)

While inside, Dallas falls apart. D:

Dempsey is RIDICULOUSLY zen as he watches the outside brawl.

YOU CAN DO THIS DALLAS.

OH THANK GOD HERMIONE

Two intertwining triumphs occur simultaneously, perhaps an ode to the power of positivity?

It was at this time I learned ONLY THE SIM IN ASPIRATIONAL FIGURE CAN SEE THE SHRINK WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT omg he's Snuffy the Suffaluffagus

YAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!

Not so yay..... also that insurance really doesn't cover much at all, does it?

And with that climatic conclusion, the night turns over to spring and the Greene's round comes to a rather eventual end. D:

NOTES Holy crap lmao they did everything didn't they? At least now we've police opened as a career track lmao though I won't allow sims to buy burglar alarms til a police station is built to sell them hohoho. I'm honestly so...... floored by everything that transpired - esp when you consider poor Dallas ends this round in the red lmao D: You'll see the effects of THAT coming up.

I'm so excited with this family, though; Logan and Dempsey are v cute together and GOD Dempsey wants a baby so badly lmaoooo and I just want THEM to have a baby so that we can get some kind of school going eventually. Both Grover and Dempsey want to be in the education career so like....... LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Really chuffed by Maddeleine and Dallas - they're quite cute and I'm ever so fond of the both of them.. They make a really cute polar opposites tale, too - the rich snot mean girl and the shy farmer girl with little money lmao

Anyway, I LOVE their grocery. It's SO teeny tiny and one day I'm going to have to find a way to expand it; currently not sure but I know I want them to be able to sell fish and the new produce they'll be growing come spring! Debating how possible it is to add a second story or if that'd make it TOO big and too hard to play, but I'd LOVE for one floor to sort of function as a market, you know?

Ahh well I'll figure it out in time. Until then, thank you so much for reading!!!
