tangerine trees and marmalade skies...

Ha, I love summer. Even when there are stressful annoying things going on, I have the time to just sit outside and read.

I have so much time to read it's amazing! Seriously I've read more books in the past two weeks than I did in the month before that. =) & I've been able to write more than just poetry for the first time since winter break. Fuck, what am I going to do when I'm all grown up and have a job and whatnot? =S

Enh. I'll figure it out.

So last night I had a night out for the first time in a long time. My friend Katie & I went to Homer's [if you're ever in the Chicago area you definitely have to find a place that sells Homer's ice cream and buy some, it's fantastic!], then to Macy's [I have to buy a new swimsuit for my job, as the one I wear right now is starting to fall apart o_O]. They kicked us out at nine when they closed, but curfew's at ten, so we decided to go to Barnes & Noble for a bit... you know, twenty minutes, half an hour.

That was basically failboat. They had this 3-for-the-price-of-2 sale on classics, so I got Frankenstein, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and Persuasion for $9. Then we started flipping through books and then it was 9:57. It's something about bookstores... I don't lose track of time like that when I'm reading at home. Hm.

And, highlight of my day, one of the little girls I'm teaching gave me a flower today! Faye's really funny and she can't really swim, but that totally rocked my week. =D Especially because there was been all this shit about custody and the restraining order and money going on earlier this week. So ending my week with Faye's flower and these two other girls who told me I was the best swim teacher I'd ever had was just... oh, it was a great way to end my week.

Also, I've discovered that playing music really loud with your windows rolled down while driving is tons of fun. ;)

summer, work, friends, books
