Swine Flu Clarification
I am totally fascinated by the swine flu.... but that doesn't mean I think we're all going to die. It's just really, really interesting to watch a new virus spread across the world. This is the first time we've been able to track the spread of a new virus and it's giving us a ton of information! I think SOME people are going to die, but they're probably the ones who would have died of anything at all. (The young, healthy people dying part is still worrisome, but hasn't been well established by numbers yet.)
Personally, I'm going to continue my life as before* (with the one exception that I'm going to go buy a thermometer soon and I'm washing my hands longer and more frequently than before).
And, as evidence that I've been working way too much lately, this morning on my way into work, I started happily imagining that I caught the swine flu and had to be quarantined for a week. (Ah... to be mildly sick and not allowed to leave the house for a week - think of all the leveling I could do!)
*And, I'm willing to bet that I'm way more likely to be exposed than the vast majority of y'all.
