Mood:
- Turn left on the next street.
I looked at Nino, who, this time, decided to sit beside me. It was so quiet inside the car I believed they’ve fell asleep. I was driving back to his place, at first, believing he would finally end up that craziness he put me into.
- Where are we…?
- Oh, hon… I believe Oh-chan must be crazy to go home, aren’t you? - he asked, smiling to the older one that seemed sleepy. - And you know I’m dying to be alone with you, don’t you?
I turned my head to face him in order to say where he could place is "hon" thing, but Ohno shout out loud.
- Watch out!
I pressed the breaks, startled.
- I always cause this impression on women.
I gave him a deathly look.
- Now turn left, it’s the second house on the right.
I pulled the car.
- Take him home, will you?
- Will you be here when I come back? - his worry was genuine.
- Maybe you should stay. - I whispered.
He hugged me.
- I will kill you if you’re not here. - he whispered back, kissing my neck.
I let my body slip in the seat, drained. It wasn’t even close to the things I’ve planned for that day. I took my phone out, once again wondering if I should call Shiori. I searched for her number, but I lacked the nerve to call her.
- Did I take long? - Nino jumped inside the car.
- What the hell are you doing? - I finally spit out.
- Sorry for taking you into this, but… I was really confused when I realized he had been waiting all night for me.
- Why are you so afraid of him? What have really happened that night? - I was waiting for so long to ask.
He hid his face in his hands. I finally noticed he was sobbing.
- Oh, Nino… What’s wrong?
- May I go to your place? - he asked, not looking at me. - I… I don’t want to be alone tonight.
I felt myself torn between two wishes. By one side, I felt desperate to help him, it was killing me seeing him cry. By the other side, I couldn’t forget Ohno’s sad eyes. But… Nino was here with me and I couldn’t say no to him. Taking out my seat belt, I pulled him inside my arms and comforted him, until he stopped crying.
- Let’s go home, ok? - I asked, kissing his forehead.
He nodded, hugging his knees and turning his head to the window.
It was a quick trip to my apartment, since it was far from the rush our. We went silent until I closed the door behind me. When I turned to him, he jumped to my neck, crying his heart out.
- Hey, hey… Let’s us make to the couch, at least.
He laughed, despite the tears, and waited until I sat to curl up onto my lap.
- I don’t know what to do, Nina… I never wanted to hurt him. Never… - he looked at me in the eyes. - It’s killing me.
- And why the hell are you doing this? Why don’t you just… you know… let it happen.
- Let what happen? - he asked me, in confusion.
- He is in love with you, Nino!
He turned his eyes away.
- I didn’t mean to.
- To what? - now I was at a loss.
- To make him fall in love.
I started caressing his hair, almost unnoticed.
- It’s not your fault, you know. - I said, softly. - You’re quite lovable yourself. It just can’t be helped.
He smiled at me.
- Does it mean that you’re already in love with me?
I gasped, pushing him to the other side of the couch.
- I’m trying to help you! - I lifted, heading to the kitchen.
- I’m not gay, Nina. - his voice was so sad.
I went silence. What was I supposed to say? I wasn’t trying to convince him otherwise. But, for all I’ve seen through that day, he was deeply involved. He just couldn’t see.
- I guess you don’t have to be. - it was the best I could do. - You can love someone despite the gender…
- Nina, don’t. - he grabbed my hand, pressing me against the wall. - I’m really into women and… since we met, I’m really into one woman in particular.
For a moment, I faced him not understanding what in the world he was talking about. But when I realized his face coming dangerously close, I pushed him, strongly.
- No, no,no. Nino, don’t. Please, don’t.
- What? Why?
I was held there, my hands in his chest, my eyes wide open. His heart was thumping hard and I knew mine was as well. Nino was lovely. Adorable. And, if it happened in a totally different situation, I would probably be the happiest girl in the whole world.
But…
- You’re not thinking straight right now. - I said, gently. - Please, Nino… We can dwell on that later, ok?
- Can we? - his eyes brightened with that promise.
I nodded, holding him when his arms crossed around my neck.
- I will cook to you, then! Girlfriend!
- What? I didn’t say yes!
He smiled deviously, taking my hand and guiding me to the kitchen.
- But I know you will. - he said, happily. - No one can resist me.
Oh, yeah. I knew that far already.
He made us hamburgers he made me buy at the konbini down my building. We also bought ice cream and we ate it watching another fluffy movie from my collection. I laughed a lot at him, since his delight was to scold on every mistake the two love birds made.
- I have classes tomorrow, Nino-san. - I said, taking his ice cream bowl. - But you can sleep as long as you wish, ok? Just close the door when you leave.
- Nina… - I felt his hands, pulling me back to the couch.
I felt my body tensing under his touch.
- I love your hair, you know? - he whispered in my ears. - It was the first thing I noticed on you.
- Thanks? - I wasn't sure on where he was planning to get.
- Then, I saw your freckled face, so beautiful and different... Somehow it made me think of Sho-kun...
I couldn't help but laughing. What in the world my frecled face would have to do with Sakurai-san?
- Seriously! He wouldn't refrain himself if he met you. - he said, in a very possessive tone. - He would have fallen for you immeadiately. He loves exotic gaijin girls.
I made a face at this. Since I arrived there, people would look at me as a circus animal. At first I felt I wouldn't do, but then... I learned to live with it. But hearing him saying this out loud, made me feel uneasy again.
- You're special, unique... - he said, kissing my cheek lightly.
My heart felt warmed then. Damn it Nino, that always knows what to say.
- I never met someone so ready to help me in anything... Your heart is so pure and strong... I guess... - he got silent, noticing I was tense; he pulled himself away a bit, smiling. - Why did you come here?
- To Japan, you mean? - he nodded. - I... I came here to study, I've told you already.
- You could have done it anywhere, you know? - he said, frowning. - In a much easier way, I guess... I believe you speak other languages as well.
- Yes. - I felt my face blushing.
- Then, way here?
I looked at the floor, trying to think. There was only one reason why I came to Japan, but I wouldn't say it, no matter what. Although I felt comfortable around Nino, it was too painful to share. Maybe that's why I kept pushing Shiori away, despite I needed her so much. She knew me too much. And, worse, she knew quite well the part of me I wanted to forget.
- You know what my first contact with Japan was? - he shook his head and I smiled. - You guys, from Arashi.
- Really? - his eyes were sparkling now. - How?
I totld him all about my friends at college and their love for Japanese Culture and how they influenced me making me an Arashi fan.
- But you didn't sound very thrilled to see me at first.
- Oh... - it wasn't quite that. - I guess I was too shocked to react.
He laughed at it, holding me into his arms.
- You have an idol at your house, his arms around you and you really will let the chance go?
I didn’t want to argue again, nor hurt him talking about Ohno anymore. So I just sighed, letting him embrace me for as long as he wished.
- May I sleep with you?
Oh, no… Not that lost puppy look. I tried to think about an excuse, but all I could say was:
- I’ll be waking up pretty early.
- That’s perfect. I’ll ask Sakurai to pick me up early as well.
I shivered when I heard that name. If there was an Arashi I had real trouble in linking was that guy. But then I remembered Nino's words about my lookings and I smiled. Maybe it was a silly prejudice.
- Ok, then.
One thing is to find yourself in the morning, with arms around your waist. Another one, and a totally different one, was trying to fall asleep besides someone that seems to want something more from you. His nose in my hair, his wandering hands, and his sighes on my neck... How could I?
- You can’t sleep. - it wasn’t a question.
- Guess I’ve been used to sleep alone for too long.
- Well… You hugged me straight away yesterday.
I looked at him, surprised.
- Of course not!
- Yes, you did. And you said "Kimochi!", while hugging me.
I felt my face blushing. He had to be teasing me. I turned myself around, annoyed. But, then, I felt his arm embracing me and pulling me closer.
- Just relax, Nina… I’m not raping you.
- Gomen… - I asked, feeling guilty. - I’m… I’m just confused.
- Confusion is good. - he said, digging his nose in my neck. - It means you’re thinking about me.
How couldn’t I! Since we met, he never left me alone!
- Oyasumi, Nina.
- Oyasumi, Nino.
We giggled, then we laughed, and when he held me tight I felt relaxed enough to sleep. Strangely, it really felt good being in his arms. And also, for the first time in a long while, I didn’t feel lonely anymore.

Next morning, my alarm was effective and we got up 6 o’clock sharp. He yawned as I walked around, throwing my things inside the backpack.
- Are you sleeping somewhere else?
- No, it’s for the gym. - and there I lost a good opportunity to have my life back.
He got out the bed.
- It’s okay if I take a bath?
- Sure. - I said, smiling. - Do you need anything?
- I kind of brought some stuff, just in case.
Then I saw it. Some stuff? Okay, I tried not to despair. He was lonely, he didn’t want to stay in his own home, probably afraid of having Ohno wondering around him again, but… How long was he planning to stay?
Not wanting to think about it any longer, I went to the kitchen to prepare the breakfast. On my way there, I just noticed the bathroom’s door open. And there was Nino in his full glory. He really would use his full load in convincing me. I sighed.
Couldn’t he understand that every step he made towards me only made me think about how sad would Ohno be?
When he finally finished I was already ready to take my turn.
- I waited for you company.
- You wish! - I just locked the door in his face, hearing his laughter outside.
However, I was smiling in the bath, thinking about how funny it was having him around. And, actually, if it was not for the "girlfriend" thing he created, I would have enjoyed myself a lot the day before. Couldn’t we all be just good friends? Wouldn’t things be easier if so?
Properly dressed and fed, we got out of the house.
- Will he take long?
- Not really, must be here any time now.
I bit my lower lip. Somehow, I felt uneasy at the thought of meeting Sakurai.
- Nina… You can go, it’s okay. Thanks for everything. - he hugged me tight. - I see you later.
Oh, mine!
- Okay.
When I was turning away, he pulled me, kissing my lips softly.
- Ninomiya-san!
- He has just arrived. - he explained. - I want him to know you are not available.
I turned around, just to see the fancy sport car parking in front of us. Feeling my cheeks blushing, I just waved him goodbye and headed to my car. Nino jumped in his seat and Sakurai stepped in, his car screaming as he accelerated. Yeah, I didn’t fancy him much.
Then, I looked to my cell phone. I had to do this.
- Shiori? - at least she picked up the call.
- What now? Aren’t you coming again?
I smiled. Thank God for the small favors!
- Right on my way! I get there in five.
Maybe that day would be a good day after all.
