Anime Expo 2008 (Day 4) ...aka when shit hit the fan... D;
Day 4
So...we woke up early to be able to check out by 11am. We did so and got everthing in the cars before heading over to the convention center where most of the day was spent in the exhibition hall snapping up any deals. I bought a BB gun for $20 (because the guy had seen kevin and i hovering around the whole weekend and had though we'd bought something so he gave us a $5 discount ...even after he found out we hadn't ^^; ). After walking around for a bit Kevin wanted to go see the new L movie so we stood in line for that and watched it. We were way in the back behind tall people so it was pretty hard for me to see the subtitles, but i managed. The movie wasn't too bad =D. After the movie we met up with William, Aaron, Eddie, Elton, Vincent, Joseph, and Rayna. The others (Connie, Susan, Deb, Fro, Jacky, etc) had gone/stayed at their hotel to do their own mini photoshoot and didn't tell us anything else >.<'. We all waited for a bit and i guess Steph called Aaron and asked if he and William wanted to go to Orochon and have lunch with her (and Richards group). They said sure and set up a time for like...6:30 or something.
What we didn't realize though was that Steph didn't realize that the rest of us were going to come too. Usually at the end of AX the whole group goes out for dinner one last time before coming home so... that's what we figure it was. Our group got there and William called Steph and (though he didn't mean it totally seriously) was like "...oh...i guess you forgot about the rest of them huh..." ...anyways. she came out and Joseph (jokingly) was like OMG you suck D;. And then we nailed her with what was probably the worst news of the day. The parking wasn't $38 as long as we didn't move the car, but about $36 per DAY D; ...each car cost about $84 to bail out of the lot D: She went back inside, and since we'd put in our names at Orochon to get a couple of tables we didn't think anything of it.
...all of a sudden while we were talking amongst ourselves we heard a huge "FUCK YOU GUYS" from behind. It was Richard storming out. Steph had started crying and got upset when she went back inside, which in turn got Richard uber upset =X. He started a huge rant at all of us, saying how he was tired of "our" shit, and how he was tired of the whole group and how they're always making Steph cry, and how he was tired of "forking out his own shit" because people cant pay on time and how we can't take care of shit ...and stuff like that. We all just stood there like stunned until he went back inside (after Steph had to keep telling him it was ok). William went off to talk to her for a while and the rest of us were left to figure out what to do. Orochon is tiny, and with such a large group we were just about guaranteed to be seated next to Richard so... not feeling comfortable with that idea we cancelled our reservation (...though we would have been next to be seated) and went to Curry house... where we had another 30+ minute wait. We talked for a bit about "the group" and what had happened. Aaron said that if it hadn't been William and himself there, and if Deb and Angel had been there, the situation would have been 10x worse x_X (...dramaz between DebxAngel and RobertxRichard...involving betrayal/stabbing in the back/going after potential girlfriend...oy ...that drama by itself could fill a tome...but anyways...i digress).
Really...Kevin/I/Joseph/Rayna have only seen Richard a few times, and haven't done anything to go against him, (nor has Aaron and William i'm pretty sure). He was mostly talking about the rest of the group (since...with the DebxAngel RobertxRichard thing, sides have been taken, and Steph's been caught in the middle not wanting to take sides/lose friends/boyfriend). ...totally muddled up...and seeing her cry basically set him off the deep end =X. Finally we got dinner, and after eating, Kevin and I met up with Connie and Chau and headed off to Stephs car (since she was our ride home). ...once again Connie managed to miss the drama (how the hell does that happen EVERY SINGLE TIME?!) because she (and deb/angel/the rest) had come after richard blew up at us. I asked Chau how Richard was and he was like ...don't ask D; (oi vey...). So... finally around 9-ish Steph dropped us all off and that was the end of the AX trip.
all in all... i have to say that this was probably the worst AX trip that I've had (and that's including the time I didn't have a key to the room, when everyone else was at the movies x-x). It ranks a very very close second with the time at PMX when people fucking left me behind altogether. ... It wasn't just the Richard thing even (though that put a huge huge huge dent in things...especially since that's the last memory i have of the trip... it was pretty traumatizing).
Another thing about the trip was that... I like going to AX because i get to hang out for a weekend with the friends I don't really hang out with that often during the year...but since we had TWO HOTELS (not rooms...HOTELS!) in totally different parts of the city...that was a total failure(i saw the others maybe... 2x for a grand total of not even 10 minutes). I think even Connie and Steph were annoyed at not seeing the others as much as they'd hoped.
hrm.. it's interesting but i think i find the guys in the group a bit more reliable than most of the girls...because they're more likely to communicate important info better (without assuming that everyone already knows, or just not really seeming to care how actions affect the others not in on the plan) and because... they actually put the effort forward to try and keep things somewhat organized and whatnot. (not to mention...they tend to steer clear of the dramaz much better..). Haha...I can deal with boy idiocy (stupid tv shows/lewd jokes/etc) much better than i can deal with the drama idiocy that seems to come up every year D;
I've seriously gotten tired of going crazy every year trying to figure out wtfh is going on all the time. ...hrm Kevin didn't really want to go to AX again (or maybe even PMX) but... I'm trying to convince him to go just because... I know that at least SOMEONE will remember that i'm around and keep me up to date with change of plans. (well..william/aaron probably would too actually...) ...i think it's really sad that with friends I have to always stay with SOMEONE or else be left not knowing what is happening because no one thinks to inform those not in on the plan...with the change of plans. It just leads to confusion, and eventually resentment and anger.
...*sigh* ...hopefully next year's AX will turn out better. Hopefully someone else plans things (that's actually staying)
