Haha. It'd be really weird to call any teachers Mr./Ms. Something. .__. Here in Finland we always call teachers either "teacher" or with their first name.. XD.

I'm also super envious that you have Japanese in your school. -_-'

and yeah i <3 that ONE aspect of my school XD (but... my High school didn't have Japanese >.<;... friends from a different high school have japanese though T-T ::envy::)

It depends on the person I think. I sometimes can't remember the names of our teachers immediately so I might call them "teacher". XDD; But both "teacher" and 1st names are commonly used.

Yes. D: It really bugs me when people use romanized Japanese. I mean, once at IRC-Galleria, I saw two chicks "talking" to each other in romanized Japanese. That was so WTF. And well, my Japanese was twice as bad at that time as it is now and I could still notice that they made loads of mistakes.. XD;

Ah ^-^ yeah... first names are usually a big no-no here unless the teacher specifically asks you to use their first name ^^;...but i still feel uncomfortable using first names...so i try not to have to say their names when i say something XD

japanese people on myspace use romaji and... i dunno... even though i know it's right, it's hard for me to read XDDD
and YES! definitely annoying when there are tons of mistakes ...mistakes make me cringe >.<; when i write something and find a mistake i sit there thinking T-T "whyyyyyyyyyy" XD

Indeed! Especially when the chicks were like "oh, we know Japanese so well, I bet no-one else knows what I'm writing here and they'll just think we're so cool for knowing Japanese" and so on. Oh well, they were just making fools of themselves in the eyes of all the people who know Japanese even a little. XD

Calling someone by their first name here is a huge no-no, and a great show of disrespect. You even need to call your friends' mothers by Mrs. *insert surname*, unless they tell you otherwise. I once got yelled out when I was about 10 or 11 because my one friend's mother told me to call her by her first name, Anne, (I had been calling her by Mrs. Gray for years though) and the next time I did and called her "Anne" she called me a rude little girl and said that she couldn't believe that her child would hang out with me. Being always very respectful and polite to people, I was horrified by such comments

Yeah... I find it really uncomfortable to call anyone by their first names unless they're people my age or younger >.<' My last teacher got mad if we didn't call him by Aki XDDD so... i always made sure he was looking at me before i started talking, to ensure i wouldn't have to use his name XD

Exactly. I feel that it's too familiar, and thus feel uncomfortable. I especially feel uncomfortable when male teachers ask me to address them by their first name. OH GOD, never never never, would I be able to call a teacher just "Aki". I'd much rather sit silently and wait for him to call on me because my silence was driving him mad, I have done that before

ah~ i'm planning on majouring in japanese, and maybe pharmacy so... i wouldn't have enough time to learn all of the other languages i'd want to learn >.<; at least not right away ~_~;

my mom says as long as i like what i do...she doesn't really care (though... having a good salary would be really nice too XD)

Incredibly so.
I'm very good with silence, amazingly considering I grew up in a rather . . . loud household. If I need to say something, I just raise my hand until the teacher notices me, or until he gives up and calls on me. XDD;

Well, the languages that they offer are endless, which is what made me want to go; that and they have language houses. That really impressed me, and they seem very professional and dedicated to everything else, but their policies and all the things they told me I'd need to change about myself really bothered me. I do not follow the Morman faith, though I went to Catholic school and was raised Episcopal/Anglican, I am not religious whatsoever. Just because it's a school where mainly missionaries go, doesn't mean that I should be forced to live just like them. Religion is supposed to be about acceptance, I thought. :\ At least, that is what I was always taught when I was little

Yes, yay for them! My parents aren't supportive on other things, but they're supportive with our education. They really just want us to be happy with what we do, though my father is a little more pushy with us getting a job that pays well. For example, when I wanted to be an artist he refused to ever allow me to go or pay for an art school. He was quite happy when I visited SCAD and realised that studying how to draw was completely ridiculous--that and I also realised that I do not have the dedication or passion. My mother, well, she just wants me to write really, and she knows that I really don't need to study for that and I just tell her that, as a translator, I will have to rewrite other people's works. That's what I plan to do, is translate books and articles. I do not have the social skills to translate for a business, nor would I be entertained with that--I think that working in a business gets pretty old after awhile.
