August 30th: Kimura Takuya and Ninomiya Kazunari, his junior in Johnny’s, are co-starring in the same film for the first time in Kensatsugawa no Zainin. It continued to be a hot topic before it’s run. On the first week of it’s Japan run and it’s already on the way to becoming the champion of box office sales. It accumulated 580 million JPY in ticket sales. After watching, many viewers praised it further as a film worth being called Kimura Takuya and Ninomiya Kazunari’s top work.
Kensatsugawa no Zainin was based on a novel by Shizukui Shusuke, with director Harada Masato leading the reigns from direction, to story and script. Kimura and Ninomiya’s characters’ play senior and junior prosecutors. When both protagonists were investigating a certain murder case, they had differing opinions which caused their trust to crumble and created an antagonistic situation. This film looks deep into the statute of limitations, unjust prosecutions and the judicial system, while posing the question of What is Justice? all at the same time.
Japanese netizens praised Kimura and Ninomiya's performance greatly as wonderful to the point of stifling and citing Kimura's emergence into a complete opposite appearance from his HERO drama period. The depth of his acting was felt. The scene of Ninomiya Kazunari investigating the criminal was also astonishing. He also says: "There may be parts you don't understand if you only watch once, so I hope everyone will watch two or 3 more times." Kensatsugawa no Zainin hits Taiwanese theaters on October 19th.
Ever since Kimura's daughter Koki's debut, she's been basked in the spotlight. The newest issue of Josei Jishin reports that Koki has been planning to go to Italy to pursue short term studies in the near future. The soonest departure would be within the year. She would like to see and learn more and set up a nice foundation before she walks her path as a model.
