The "This-isn't-your-grandfather's-Star-Trek" movie
I didn't expect too much from it but was pleasantly surprised. My dad made us watch what we call "The Whale Movie" right before we watched the new one and that was interesting. I came out of that movie seeing McCoy/Spok, but after the new movie I was getting strong Kirk/Spok vibes. Yes, Spok is uke.
I've never actually seen many of the first series (much more of a Star Trek: Next Gen fan) so tonight I watched 2 of them on cbs.com. One had Kirk doing a Freaky Friday switcheroo which had some disturbing anit-feminism/feminism vibes. I'm not sure how to take the ending of that one... The other was when Kirk and Spok go to 1968 era America. That one was pretty boring since it was mostly the guest star doing stuff, but it's fun to see Kirk and Spok cosplay.
