Don't have anything worthwhile to post about, so I thought I'd share 3 movies I really enjoyed. This way, you might get ideas for your next rental movie night and I will have continued to fulfill my obligation to Ayelet to post more often. Ayelet, I know I'm kind of cheating because this has nothing to do with NY, but it's something. Maybe you'll all share your Top Rentals too and we will have made the world a better place.
Little Miss Sunshine
This movie just came out on video and it's the only DVD that I own. That tells you something... either that I'm extremely cheap or that I really love this movie. I've now seen it 3 times and I consider it to be my favourite movie of all-time.
It's about a family full of problems that suffers through a roadtrip to get their youngest daughter to a beauty contest. It's hilarious throughout and it's touching too, but the dark humour always wins out!
Lost In America
This movie is a roadtrip movie as well. It's about a couple from New York City that, because of their career problems, decide to "drop out" of society, rent a caravan, and drive across the US. They screw up along the way and their problems brought me to tears of joy. No happy ending either!
Educating Rita
This is a British movie starring Michael Caine and Julie Walters, Ron's mother from Harry Potter. Unlike the other two films, this one's a drama with funny bits. It's about a working-class woman who decides she wants more out of life so she goes back to school, part-time. Michael Caine plays her sometimes-drunk professor. I loved her accent and her spunkiness.
Enjoy!
