People say that this show is really boring. I've learned the hard way not to listen to people all the time because they don't know what I like. I mean from the names I see here, the show looks like it would be pretty fun to watch. Anyways great that the white team one...I'll just have to watch it to see whether I agree with it or not.

I didn't find it boring ^^ watched last year as well when it aired.
Some acts were not my thing but those I just skipped.

Thanks for your opinion. I'm probably just gonna skip the acts that don't interest me as well.

It really is something you should watch for yourself, since it seems to be something you either like or you don't.

I honestly like it because it is mostly music, with very little stuff going on between the acts.

Thanks for your opinion. I really liked a lot of the names I saw on the list so just going from that I think I'll enjoy it. Plus I don't watch that many Japanese music shows, so most of the performances will be pretty new to me.

(okay this is not in Japan but) I was in my grandma's house during that time to celebrate New Year and when I changed the channel to NHK, some people questioned "Ooh this is Japan show?" but then no one bother to really watch, only my grandma watch the whole thing (even NYC lulz) and she said "So many great voices in Japan!! Also beautiful performances!" so I expect she really likes Kouhaku hahaha

Part of it maybe because she understands Japan more than English, which made it more fun to watch for her. She was a teenager anyway when Japan colonized our country back then, she even worked for their soldiers! So she understands a bit of Japanese lol

lol, that's a cute story. If I turned the show on in front of my family I wouldn't hear the end of it. I'm kind of jealous you actually have the NHK channel.

Well because it was a family gathering, everyone was talking to each other (and eating) and they didnt care whatever show's on tv... I dont have anything to do (and my grandma was kinda sick too) so I watched tv haha

Even though I have NHK, I almost never watched it actually (tbh it's only useful for Kouhaku or Shonen Club). That channel is full of boring Japan news, or cooking shows that are mostly lame..... I even rarely see any morning news with Johnnys in it (well maybe Sho because he's the MC but I'm not a fan of Arashi)

I'm guessing NHK is Japans PBS.
I thought they might put dramas on it, but I guess they wouldn't be subbed so that wouldn't matter.

It really depends on who's watching. The recent one was the first one I've watch from start to finish without sleeping but I lost interest after awhile. But like I said, it all depends on the person.

Well, I guess if you managed to stay awake throughout the entire show, that's a plus.
Thanks for your input ^_^

maybe because it's too long and there are a handful of artists who are not popstars that it becomes painfully boring at certain points, but u guess that's fine if you're watching it on new year's eve where you dont have to sit in front of the tv for 4hrs since there are last minute new yr errands, catching up with visitors, etc.
