How Does Vacation Get So Boring So Quickly?

May 26, 2008 00:51

Over the past week I've pretty much just relaxed. I've slept until 12 (or once 2). I watch the TV (far too much, partially because of new 50" TV). I've had so much time, and now I'm getting restless. I need things to do...not on the computer. I've been surfing the internet too...though that goes without saying. It's gotten to the point that I'm scanning all the work of my college career into the computer to cut down on paper clutter. Drew and I have also started our second album, "The Arrival of Aliens", which should be released at the end of the summer. It will be between 5 and 9 times trippier than the last one.

Some uninteresting news. My laptop is broken again. The firewire port broke off, the ethernet port doesn't work, and the power cable cuts out. This adds to the list of problems I've had:
  • replaced power cable 4 times
  • monitor fell off
  • battery failed
  • DVD drive failed (and they sent the wrong replacement)
In short, don't buy a Gateway

In more interesting news, I'm sending my laptop back to Gateway. That's not interesting in itself, but they're sending me a box (I missed it when it was supposed to be delivered), and it needs to be signed for in person. I need to sign for a box of styrofoam, but they'll leave a $900 monitor in front of my garage. I don't understand this at all.

Also, there is (or was) apparently a bear in the area. According to my dad, it was sighted going through the dumpster at the Dunkin Donuts. That's very unwelcome news, because I routinely walk home at 2AM where there is almost no light. I'm not so much afraid of a black bear as I am of surprising one or being surprised by one in zero visibility. Hopefully we don't come into close contact.

So, once again, if anyone wants to hang out this week, I'm very happy to. I won't get much as much of a chance after I start my internship next week (40 hrs/wk).
