You should visit this shrine because...: It was very difficult for me to narrow down a specific site of Alex's to review because she simply crafts some of the best shrines to video game characters out there. I decided that in this rec I would focus on "Consequence" because it takes the commonly held view of Princess Zelda as a useless damsel in distress and TOSSES IT FAIR OUT THE FREAKING WINDOW. THEN SETS THE WINDOW ON FIRE. OR SOMETHING. At a time when far too many female video game characters are still being written off as "weak", Alex highlights the subtle strengths in one of the most famous female game characters of all time. In carefully arranged sections that have an overall emphasis on intelligent, articulate character analysis, Zelda's very human nature and emotional fortitude become apparent. It's difficult to read through this shrine in its entirety and not feel great admiration for both Alex and Zelda. At "Consequence" Zelda is read as a woman of courage, worth and human flaws; under-appreciated and misunderstood by the fandom that ironically embraces the games in which she features. Alex must be commended for building Zelda a tribute of such high quality. Truly, you will leave this shrine not just wiser, but more appreciative of Zelda's role in Ocarina of Time and the Zelda franchise as a whole.
