First though! It's finally Paris Fashion Week, thank god it's almost over. PFW owns my soul, ok. So: I want the entire collection from Dior (surprise, surprise) and Roland Mouret and I will be happy. Ok? I am officially bored with the Balmain obsession, the collections are always the same. Much like Chanel *yawn*. Lavin was so underwhelming I am sad. Balenciaga was good and had awesome shoes. Everything else was forgettable cause I can't remember any other shoes. Oh! Except that Mugler is all the rage now just cause Lady Gaga walked in it. Kill me now please.
So, deep thought re:Galliano. I AM SO TORN. So, what he did is inexcusable and disgusting. No questions there. But, it is incredibly sad that someone so talented has ruined his career. Regardless of how he is as a person, Galliano is a great artist and has been perfect for Dior. Plus, he has almost single-handedly made couture valid again. In the early 1990s, the fashion world declared couture a dead art and business. Then Galliano took over Dior, reinvented its public image and has made the house's shows the highlight of fashion week. People care about couture again because of what he has done there. Sure, couture is still just a spectacle, but the publicity has been invaluable. It's sad that such a person is now completely discredited. So, let's all go look at his last collection and revel in it's beauty, shall we?
