Because students are totally used to having to completely rearrange their financial plans MID SCHOOL YEAR. BECAUSE IT'S TOTALLY NORMAL FOR AWARDS TO BE REVOKED FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN THE GOVERNMENT FUCKING UP.
STUDENTS SHOULD NOT BE REQUIRED TO GO INTO ADDITIONAL DEBT BECAUSE THE STATE CAN'T PAY ITS BILLS.
Seriously, we are not here to make up YOUR slack, state of Illinois. Why did they send out all of those award letters if they can't actually provide those awards? I absolutely refuse to believe they didn't have some idea of how shitty the budget was when they started sending out those letters. No way does half the budget suddenly not exist.
So much for graduating next fall. Apparently Illinois thinks I can pull a third of my tuition out of my ass next semester.
