Welp, time for another brief update, the good, the bad and the ugly.
Works great. I enjoy my job even though it sometimes means toggling the capslock key for someone(s) so they can log into the system. Nothing like being the official geek on the payroll. And I get to live vicariously through work by buying PC parts and periphials that we do need, but that I get to toy with all the same. And and I'm on a straight sun-thurs schedule with only 1 day technically at reception. Got a desk, got my own extension, got my own PC.
Love the new apartment, they call it a 1 bedroom with den. Boils down to a 2 bedroom/1 bath. Just fine for me, the Mr. and the cat. And all the junk. Man have we collected stuff over the years. Some of these boxes date back to when we were in da Condo. And lord the toys. The sunroom is chock full of boxes full o' toy madness. Expect a post on toy madness clearing out as we've concluded that we A: have too many and B: really only want to keep a few choice pieces, the rest can go live elsewhere.
WE broke the little white car. If you've seen the Mr's journal, you've seen the brokie car. Gonna miss that little white car. Great gas mileage, nice sound system, sunroof. Fortunatly we hadn't sold the Rodeo yet so we arn't totally carless. However....
The Rodeo threw it's heater coil. The week we broke the lil white car so currently we're sans heat in it. Had a week layover with a rental thanks to the insurance company. Buuut, due to family connections the repairs for the big blue truck arn't going to be in the thousands of dollar range and as an added bonus, we're getting the brakes taken care of as well. Still...
Gonna miss that lil white car.
I'm feeling lots better save for random bruises on my shins/legs/ankles and some mild swelling due to knees/shins meeting dashboard rather hard and fast. Chest doesn't hurt - much but I'll get to that in a sec. But there isn't anything like random bruises blooming to the surface two weeks later. If you ever wanted to know about deep tissue bruises, ask me. Cause they arn't pretty. And they only start really hurting right when it happens, then a week later they start again. Joy. Nothing bad though, just mildly annoying.
The family lost the Harley dog. Not as in ran away but as in crossed the bridge, passed on, pick your euphamism. She was 14 or 15 years old and was chasing folks yesterday. My sis came home for lunch today and had the unfortunate luck of being there when the dog had the cardiac moment. She's traumatized. Made for a rough end of day for me as she brought Harley to my work (Vet Emergency Facility) but I had pretty much concluded from the description on the phone call that Harley wasn't going to be alive upon arrival. Still, rough as I'm going to miss that dog. The med team did a wonderful job of CPR and the like but she was gone.
So, after spending an hour hacking a hole in the ground through layers of shale and clay, we gave her a nice burial in her favorite spot in the yard and planted some new flowers in the monkey grass over the area. Hence my chest being a bit more tender than it has been.
Mom's a bit upset but we're actually rather glad that she went quickly and didn't get some cancer or a wasting disease or lost use of her hind end, making us make that dreaded choice. Sort of a lesser of two evils. The vets said that she pretty much had one bad moment of a few seconds then was gone. Sis was very upset, having thought that Harley had somehow gotten into antifreeze but the symptoms arn't the same exactly as what happened. I'm glad that they did the CPR, but I'm also relieved that I didn't have to tell my baby sister that I was going to have to have them put the dog to sleep because of whatever reason. That's hard on a person and I've had to make that choice before.
So, we're at home, we ordered delivery food and I've had a hot shower to clean the clay off. This weekend the big blue truck gets it's new stopping things and a warming thing. And the cat's her usual fruu-fruu self.
So.. the good, the bad and the ugly. A little of all three.
