This is something I thought about in the wee hours of the morning and figured I should post. omfg, thinky thoughts. Cut for talk about Nazis and rape jokes, non-graphic, just in case.
I find things like Hipster Hitler or Springtime For Hitler or Hitler Finds Out Whatever type of stuff to be funny. fucking hilarious at times. and yet, Hitler = evil beyond anything we can imagine and yet he was real.
You know why I find it funny? Because all this shit makes Hitler to be a complete and utter ridiculous ass-turmpeting buffoon. After all, Mel Brooks aimed out to make him such a figure of ridicule no one could ever take him seriously again. And that is what all of this is doing.
And, it is also a giant, big, huge Riddikkulus in the face of the horror of what he did to humanity. Not to say we're still afraid of Nazis but to comprehend such sheer evil is terrifying and the idea that humans could and would do that to each other? is. So er laugh at him, we make the march of Fibbonazi Germany jokes in math.
The gist of it is this: We laugh at Hitler. To dis-empower him.
