There was a reason that MMF was my favorite episode until MBK and that was all the way in season 04. MMF was just so damn good. Every character was so well damn serviced, not just the main ones (Damon, Elena, Stefan), the semi-leads (Caroline, Bonnie), but also the supporting players (Tyler, Jeremy, Jenna) and the vampire, brother, family, friendship and romantic stuff was fantastic.
“The second season opener was the best premiere of the series hands-down.” - I was thinking about this long and hard and came to the shocking conclusion that… I agree lol The reason why I wasn’t sure at first if I felt the same way was that while this episode was absolutely fantastic, it didn’t make my top 10. But then I remembered that it was most likely just because it was too sad overall ;)
And this is when I first began to go hmmm... because I was like, this isn't about happy or sad, LOL. You just wrote how absolutely fantastic the episode was, it had me confused. HAH!
“This was easily one of the greatest episodes of season 02 and one of the most outstanding of the series overall.” - I always had a problem with this episode. Everyone seems to love it and I did like it but I was never crazy about it. It was awesome in terms of, er, logistics, though. I’m fully aware of that.
So, realizing this is about *best* as opposed to *favorite* ... would you place this in your top 10 then?
“And "The Sacrifice" absolutely was an excellent episode, and it wasn't only because of Tyler's discovery of werewolf video diarying.” - I have to confess that for some reason all Tyler-heavy episodes always feel somewhat hazy to me. That’s why it’s hard for me to love any of them because I just tend to not to remember them too well. It’s weird lol
I know, Tyler is not a favorite, but oh man, next time you rewatch this episode (if it's not until we do the rewatch--if you rewatch the episodes with me) check out the werewolf video scenes because Tyler/Trevino is heartbreaking in those scenes. They are so, so, soooooo good. These were the scenes that made me *get* and care about the werewolf stuff.
This is yet another episode that I totally loved but which is too sad for me to consider one of most favorite ones (I know it’s silly but I can’t help taking that into consideration). And yes, it was brilliant and heartwrenching. A wonderful episode for sure.
Yeah, best, not favorite... and this is absolutely one of the series' best episodes.
